Sipping on this currently. Unfortunately I got a bit distracted so the tea has cooled down to a weird and not very ideal temperature. The taste is sort of strange to me, but I don’t really know how much of that is because of the tea and how much because of the temp. It got some dryness to it that I don’t love and the initial taste reminds me more of strawberry hard candy than papaya, with a floral undertone and a smidge of soapiness? I do taste more of a distinct papaya note in the finish though.
Finished a sample of this one off awhile ago. I remember thinking that it didn’t quite work for me as a banana split tea. It was a pleasant nighttime herbal though with some pleasant notes of lemon and the green rooibos base.
Flavors: Herbs, Lemon, Lemongrass, Rooibos
Sipdown (2529)!
Finished this one off in the morning. I had to really hunt for the sample, which was mixed in with about a hundred other herbal tea samples in a drawer. I had a strong craving for this tea specifically, though!
Something about the sweetness of the lemon and overall mouth coating feeling of this blend gives me a lot of deja vu. It’s almost like the tea version of a honey lemon lozenge, but with a bit of an earthy heat from the turmeric. It’s not something I’d describe as typical of my flavour preferences, but I actually like it a lot and it’s something I’d probably consider ordering again next time I place an Adagio order. If it’s still around, anyway.
Doubling down on my opinion that this is really similar to the Honey Lemon Drop tea DT carried a while back. Same coating honey note, same sweet lemon, and same medium-ish bodied and slightly less earthy turmeric. I do think it’s growing on me with every cup of it though. I had it like two days ago and, as I write this note, all I can think about is that I want another.
Recently received a small(ish) order from Adagio with my advent in it and a couple other teas I wanted to restock. I took advantage of the fact I was ordering to toss in some samples I had been curious about for a while though, including all four of Adagio’s coffee leaf teas.
I really like the coffee leaf that is sourced by Wize. Wize was my intro to this ingredient and I feel like they’ve only continued to release incredible products that feature it. Not a lot of other places carry coffee leaves since they’re usually a discarded food byproduct, so it’s nice to see more places upcycling them.
Of the four coffee leaf teas Adagio carries, there are others that I think appeal to me more in concept. I think if this was just lemon I might have been more initially excited, but the turmeric is something I’m personally a little meh about. Steeped up it was pretty nice though; I really liked the overall flavour level and the lemon was deeply delicious. Not too sweet or tart and not really medicinal/pithy either. The turmeric was fine and pretty inoffensive to someone who, like me, isn’t a fan of that really raw drying earthiness.
A couple years ago DT carried a tea called Honey Lemon Drop which was a lemon turmeric green tea with a honey flavouring. This reminded me a lot of that blend, but less sweet overall. That was a tea that I enjoyed but only under specific circumstances, and I think I feel similarly here.
Another one I tried from the SVTTB, I am transferring my notes over a little at a time. This blend was something I don’t remember ever having, though it looked pretty familiar. When I steeped it I wasn’t expecting much because I haven’t loved many of Adagio’s chocolate teas in the past but this was really good I liked the creme element too. I preferred it as a latte but it was really good plain too. I don’t recommend this one iced.

Flavors: Cinnamon, Ginger
Preparation
I was recently on vacation, and I kept a pitcher of this in the fridge in the Airbnb so I could quickly fill my tumbler before leaving each morning. The butterfly pea flower definitely makes this blend too savory, but this one only comes in pitcher packs, so I didn’t pick the flowers out at the time. Now that I’m back home, I cut open the packs and throw out the flowers before brewing. Even so, the flavor is quite savory, and I don’t taste any mango. I taste lemongrass and something rather plain.
Strange VariaTEA TTB – Tea #20
I love maté, and I don’t think I’ve ever tried coffee leaf before, so this one piqued my interest. I do generally enjoy coffee-flavored teas, though it looks like there isn’t actually any coffee flavoring here. There was just one single serve packet of this tisane in the box.
It mostly tastes like a mix of green and roasted maté to me. I assume it’s the coffee leaf that’s adding that green, herbaceous flavor, since there is no green maté here. The chicory root adds a nice earthiness that goes well with the roasty maté. To be honest, I’m not really tasting any chocolate, either cacao or flavoring, but I don’t mind. I do pick up on the hazelnut, which is nicely rich and buttery. It’s interesting because even though this has so many roasty notes going on, it actually tastes rather light because of the herbaceous coffee leaf.
Anyway, I like this one. I’m not sure I love it enough to order, but I’ll keep it in mind. I definitely need more maté in my cupboard, as I really do enjoy the flavor of it. But first, sipdowns! :P

Flavors: Autumn Leaf Pile, Butter, Chicory, Earthy, Hazelnut, Herbaceous, Roasted, Roasted Nuts, Smooth, Sweet
Preparation
Not sure if it’s just me or whether this is what the combination of rooibos and Earl grey is supposed to taste like, but I just couldn’t get into this tea. The aromatics were certainly inviting. Potent aromas of cinnamon bark, lemon peel, and orange from the leaf. I steeped this in a tea bag as Rooibos isn’t easy to strain well. The brewed tea was far from enjoyable. It tasted medicinal with a strong star anise like flavor accompanied by notes of clove, root beer, and menthol. All flavors which I otherwise enjoy but here it just tasted weird. I may need to try this with a little milk and sweetener as it’s just not doing it for me on it’s own.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Citrus, Clove, Medicinal, Menthol, Root Beer, Star Anise
Preparation
I have tried several rooibos EGs and have just come to the understanding that while I like rooibos and bergamot on their own, I do not like them together. Milk did help me finish off a bag in my stash, though.
@TeaEartleGreyHot, it’s been a while since I’ve had straight rooibos. I’ll admit the smell is a little off putting but it takes the right flavoring to make it work. Like Mastress Alita, I can stomach it more easily with milk and sugar. One of the best drinks I ever had was a rooibos chai latte from a small cafe in Anaheim.
