I had this as my “tea with a sandwich” for the November sipdown prompts. Since all I had was a sample sized pack, it was also a sipdown.
This tea appears to only come as pitcher packs for iced tea now, and I suppose that makes sense because this made a fruity, candy-ish summery tea. I did ice it and sweeten and put it in the fridge this morning.
I was very surprised that mine was not blue. Either it is too old, if that affects pea flower, or there just wasn’t enough pea flower here. I did not steep twice and combine as I sometimes do so the color couldn’t have been diluted by that.
While brilliant blue color like the pic on their site might be fun for a picnic, I was only interested in the taste, and several reviewers on the adagio site nailed it when they said this tasted exactly like Froot Loops.
If you love that sweet, candy flavor of Froot Loops, buy this for summer. You will love it, and I will probably buy some next spring for Ashman for just that reason.
Flavorful with cinnamon dominating. You can taste the other ingredients like ginger and cardamom, but it tips strongly toward cinnamon. The saffron was a nice addition to add richness to the flavor, rounding it out as well as adding an auburn color. This has a wonderful aroma in the bag and in the cup!

Preparation
Sipdown (1954)!
This was a freebie from my last Adagio order and it was… fine?
I find the rooibos that Adagio uses has a bit of a medicinal and earthy taste to it, and I actually enjoy that quality a lot in some of my favourite Adagio blends (ex. The Woman) but it’s not appropriate as the foundation for a caramel tea. The bigger thing, though, is that this is just another caramel tea that’s too thin in taste and texture to ultimate pull off caramel for me. Too many fruity top notes and not enough dark sweetness. Needs to taste more brown, if that makes sense.
So, it was a fine tea but not a memorable tea and not my perfect caramel tea.
I had a cup of the sample I recently ordered of this one along with some holiday gifts. Adagio has a coffee company as well now and I was able to order at the same time and also use a free shipping coupon they sent me. I remember this one being quite artificial in taste which isn’t surprising. It reminded me more of caramel than butterscotch though like a caramel coffee creamer. I did drink this one with some non-dairy milk added which made it nice and creamy. It was dessert-y and yummy but I’ll have to see if I coax the butterscotch out as opposed to caramel.

Preparation
Marzipan, like many things, can be really tasty or will make you not want to try it again. Until you forget your last experience. At first I was excited to try this one but then I remembered Marzipan is made with almonds, so I passed my tea to my husband. The aroma is quite nice. The almond flavoring is stronger than anticipated. The husband says it was good. More floral than your usual one.
Without naming this one after a liquor I don’t know that I would have sought those flavors out. The wet aroma has a fairly strong presence of wood-barrel-aged smoked bourbon. Along with maple notes. The liquor is woodsy and a bit smokey, not like Lapsang. A nice strong brew I can see the Vikings drinking.
Before she passed, my sister was an ancestry.com guru and had loosely traced our line back to a known pirate, early 1800s, I think off one of the Carolina coasts … unfortunately, I don’t possess the details. But I’m rolling with it anyway.
