drank Chocolate Macaroon by DAVIDsTEA
467 tasting notes

I have been disappointed by several coconut teas lately but this tea has fulfilled my desires. Oh yummy. Chocolate macaroons! Has a great cookie taste that really fits it’s name. Not much else to say… good tea. I don’t think I’d want it everyday, but I don’t really know any tea that I would want absolutely everyday.

Flavors: Chocolate, Coconut, Cookie

Preparation
200 °F / 93 °C 5 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML
Ost

Isn’t it great?? I loved this tea when I tried it! ^^

drank Red Velvet Cake Mate by 52teas

TTB Samples Only
I love mates! I enjoy good chocolate mate. But… this is supposed to be Red Velvet Cake Mate and I don’t taste any of the red velvet or cake that I would have expected. There was nothing wrong with this if I take away the expectation of Red Velvet Cake. I have several awesome chocolate mates so I wouldn’t bother to keep this one in stock, not that I didn’t enjoy it.

Flavors: Chocolate

Preparation
Boiling 6 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML
Frolic

Do you taste any cream cheese in it? I really am kinda meh about red velvet cake in general but I love the frosting.

carol who

No, I really didn’t taste any cream cheese. For me, that was one of the problems with this tea.

drank SBT: Maple Bacon by 52teas

TTB Samples Only

I’m happily working my way through this TTB. Many teas to chose from, not much time! This one sounded interesting. I added the suggested salt and maple syrup. The first couple sips were good but as the cup cooled it lost something. Now it is somewhat bitter and not very interesting. Maybe there was something wrong in my brewing :(

Preparation
200 °F / 93 °C 4 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML
Ost

You’re brave to try a tea by that name! XD Did you taste any bacon? :P

Mandy

No thank you! Haha, not my idea of a good time.

Nice white tea. Calming cream and cantaloupe flavors. Smooth, relaxing. Nice lingering cantaloupe aftertaste. Not special enough to buy but would drink again anytime.

drank JavaVana Mate by Teavana
467 tasting notes

TTB-Samples Only

Thanks TTB! I love the other mates from TeaVana so I was glad to get a sample of this. Really doing a good job of charging up a somewhat hot, dull Sunday afternoon. I have been drinking more hot tea this summer than I used to but I find I really enjoy it. I figure if most of the rest of the world doesn’t have ice tea I should give hot tea in the summer a try. I still always have a pitcher of some kind of cold brew in the refrigerator.

Anyway, back to the tea. Yummy! Nice blending of the flavors, with chocolate at the forefront. I can taste a bit of the coffee flavor and some vanilla. I’m surprised there isn’t more coffee flavor with java in the name. Still very enjoyable. :)
I better make sure I finish this pot up now so I don’t end up drinking it later this evening.

Boiling 7 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

I know that most people don’t like the added flavors but I am enjoying the fullness of the cup. The raspberry and chocolate are definitely the major taste and aroma with the black base pulling it all together. I’m quite enjoying the tea.

My little activity monitor isn’t working quite right this morning and did not measure my 2 mile walk :( I’ll never reach my goal unless I adjust it somehow. I always feel like I’m cheating if I adjust it. I have to lose the weight I put on while visiting my mother in Florida. I swear all we did was eat! I seem to have gained about 3 pounds. I’m losing some of it but it’s hard. So many tempting foods. At least I have all my lovely teas as a substitute, :)

Flavors: Chocolate, Raspberry

Preparation
Boiling 4 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

Tea really does help me not eat as much, I think.

drank Decaf Apricot by Adagio Teas

Samples Only TTB
It’s nice to have another decaf that I like but I am not overwhelmed. Sometimes I think that I don’t do a good job shaking/mixing the package of tea. It doesn’t seem to have as much apricot flavor as others are tasting. I like it well enough but I am not excited.

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 15 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML
A2ShedsJackson / MrsPremise

I’ve heard the decaf flavors on Adagio are a bit milder than the caffeine originals. Adagio flavors can be pretty subtle and natural, which is both good and bad. Not totally surprised by your review. Hope the next thing you try is more to your liking.

I was afraid that there would be too much cinnamon since it was listed first. Then I realized that they were in ABC order.

There is a nice balance of flavors. Not too much cinnamon. Really a lovely blend. Quite a tasty tea which was very really terrific as a reward after cleaning all the windows and screens.

When I am allowed to buy more tea… this is one I would probably buy. It might be a very long time before I’m allowed to buy more tea. Buying 37 teas and getting two TTB is a little excessive.

I have never had a Lapsang Souchong before so I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect. I thought… a little smokiness from the tasting notes. Well, I got smokiness to swoon over. It is really lovely! Really brings back sweet memories of campfires with friends and family. What an aroma! I almost didn’t want to drink it, just breath it in. I added a just a bit of stevia and it became a smooth, lovely cup for sitting and reading the paper. (What’s a paper? Remember newspapers?) The smokiness is very enjoyable, in a relaxing way. It’s not a tea to bounce you out of bed in the morning. It’s more of a calm afternoon tea break. This is one I would not want everyday, but I can picture enjoying it many times in the future. This re-steeped twice with good results. :)

I’m on vacation in Florida and checking out all the tea shops nearby. I’ve bought about 20 teas this week. It’ll take some time to do tasting notes on all of them but gosh. I guess I just have to force myself to drink lots of new teas!

Flavors: Smoke

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

Have a good vacation :)

Vacations are great for new tea! There aren’t any tea shops near where I live so I always look for tea buying opportunities when I’m on vacation too.

Mandy

What part of Florida? I’m assuming not Orlando since we don’t seem to believe in tea over here or something.

carol who

I’m visiting Sarasota. July is not the time to visit Florida. I have been petitioning my mom to change her birthday to sometime in November but she seems reluctant. :P

I’ve gone to three really excellent tea shops and have gotten about 30 teas. Oops! I don’t think I’ll be able to sneak that by my husband very easily. I’ll write about the teas and places in my tasting notes when I get home.

I think I’ve gained about 3 lbs while I’m down here. Weight watchers is going to be very upset with me! All we do is eat. Even with all my walking (indoors 3-5 miles) I don’t think I’ve made a dent in all the weight I’ve gained. :(

I went to the lovely Selby Gardens in Sarasota Fl. They have an adorable tea shop where we spent way too much money. The tea wasn’t too expensive, it was just so good that we kept buying. So many interesting teas! I love traveling and getting to try new tea shops! The owners were VERY nice. When I mentioned Steepster and talked a little bit knowledgeably (Yeah right, me knowledgeable? Ha!) about tea they gave me a choice of any of their more expensive teas, $10./2 oz. for free. (Totally unexpected!) I think when I mentioned bringing my Breville TeaMaker with me on vacation, they could tell that I am pretty serious about my teas.

One of the teas we drank was CreativiTea. Very lovely scent! So nice a fruity. Smells like a summer day in the garden. Very refreshing. Nice lemongrass, orange peel and rose bud aroma and taste. It’s mostly a fruity taste rather than a particular fruit, but it isn’t just the same old fruity tisane. Very fresh flavors.

We have already decided to go to the Farmer’s Market tomorrow morning where they will also be selling their teas. We have to have mooooore !

Flavors: Apple, Carrot, Lemongrass, Mango, Orange Zest

Preparation
Boiling 8 min or more 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

Bio

Retired first grade teacher. I tend to like dessert type/herbal teas as a substitute for sweet treats; flavored black teas and mates to get that energy that I am often lacking ;-p
My husband of 43 years thinks I’m nuts regarding the whole tea thing… but he bought me a Breville for Christmas, so what can I say. :-D
My other interests are reading (books go well with tea :D) and beading. I volunteer at my “old” school teaching reading and I volunteer for the blind. I am trying hard to lose weight ( I have now lost 40 lbs and I’m looking good in my skinny jeans, IMHO) I am now walking about 4.5 miles a day and I am trying to do some core work for about 30 min. 3x a week.

I have been watching Doctor Who for 33years. In case you can’t tell my avatar is two daleks drinking tea! I am always open to swapping Doctor Who books for tea. I have about 120 Doctor Who books that I am eager to send some to a fan. :D Let me know if you would like any books! I love that so many people have begun watching DW!

Also I love swaps, pm me if you’d like to do a swap.

Since I find others’ rating legends helpful, I added my own.

95-100 A once in a lifetime experience; the best there is; will keep this stocked until the cows come home

90-94 First rate; top notch; really terrific; will definitely buy more

80-89 Excellent; likely to become a favorite, will likely buy more

70-79 Very good; would enjoy again, might buy again if in the mood for this particular one or a better, similar version not available or it’s on a really good sale :-)

50-69 Good; wouldn’t pass up if offered, but probably wouldn’t buy again unless craving this particular flavor

Below 50 Meh! Wouldn’t bother drinking it again.
