84 Tasting Notes
This is such a good blend that I intend to keep in stock. I love that it is herbal, but if I want to change it up, can add some black tea and it becomes different and even more yum.
And as an update.. as I had mentioned in the past, this was originally purchased for my husband who expressed a request for chai last year. He has been in hospital most of the past 8 months and even though it was only a short while ago that doctors said would never be home again, a miracle of sorts happened and he is indeed now home!
So, being able to share a pot of this together again is something very special and precious, and I am so thankful for that simple thing.
Beautiful fresh dark green leaf that reminds me of delicate steamed greens once brewed.
Fragrant aroma and taste which is sweet and floral, with butter, vanilla and a bit of savory green/grass.
This is really a gorgeous tea that provided many delicious steeps.
Thanks to Tea Ave for the lovely opportunity to try this!

This is a very fragrant tea! The jasmine is full and crisply fresh, and blends beautifully with the milky oolong. Smooth and creamy to sip with a breathtaking aroma.
Quite outstanding, and anyone who is a fan of jasmine will certainly love this.
Thanks so much to Tea Ave for sending this sample to try!
Preparation
I really love this tea blend! When I ordered this, I knew I would probably enjoy it; I was absolutely right, and have been drinking it a lot!
This has everything I love in a tea. Not fussy, good anytime of day, resteeps wonderfully for another cup, and most important – so delicious!
Beautiful dry leaf that brews a fulfilling, smooth and and perfectly balanced cup of tea, with notes of honeyed malt, cocoa, pastries and a hint of fruitiness.
This is my perfect anytime tea, and I actually wish I bought more than just one tin!
Preparation
Wow, that’s too bad! Thanks for letting me know! I’ll have to go for their Tiger Assam instead…that sounds good as well.
so tiger assam i’m very partial to so i just take that out of the running lol but this one is better than red tailed…and i do love red tailed as well
Sil, I ordered a tin of this with one of the tiger assam after seeing the shipping deal you got for us in Canada last month. I had been waiting for a deal so I could order more of the tiger and thought I may as well try this one too. Glad I did, though yeah, getting a second tin would have been better!
Mike, the tiger Assam is great too! I have only tried these two but love them both. I’m sure you will like the assam one :)
whatshesaid, it is darn expensive, but the tea is good…and the tins are so cute too! When I ordered I told myself at least I was saving a few dollars on shipping :)
Gorgeous leaf with light reddish-amber crumbles which must be the osmanthus flowers. Fragrant as well as visually pretty.
Brews a clear, pale yellow color. Lovely candy-like and floral aroma. Tastes sweet, creamy and custard-like, and very delicious!. Brewed leaves four times with abundant flavor in each.
Thank you Tea Ave for your generosity in sending this beautiful tea to try!
Preparation
I haven’t had a cup of cocoa in ages; when I was a child, my mom used to make it once in awhile as a treat and although I have drank it as an adult, it has been some time.
This ground cocoa is really fantastic and much more delicious and satisfying than the regular powdered cocoa I have had before – so much chocolate in both smell and taste!! I added a small amount of sugar and milk to my brewed cup and it really was perfectly delicious. I’d say that I can detect subtle coconut but not so much cinnamon.
I brewed 2-3 heaping teaspoons in about 6 ounces boiling water in a brew basket for probably around 15 minutes. Later on I used the grounds again with leftover tea leaves from the morning and it was even more delicious – super chocolate tea!! Very happy with this yummy comforting treat!
Preparation
It was really good! :)
Also, I noticed later that the instruction sheet that came with the cocoa gave examples of re-using the grounds in smoothies, baking, compost(that isn’t pet accessible) and exfoliator for hands.
Mmm, I love Crio Bru! My bag doesn’t have those ideas though. Just… put the grounds in a smoothie? I need to try that.
It was on an instruction sheet that came with the order, and listed the examples to show how ‘eco green’ the product is. :)
This is part of what it said – “One of the best ways for you to join Crio in going green is to reuse the used Crio Bru grounds, such as: adding 1-2 tablespoons to a smoothie or protein shake” – I bet it would be yum!
Ohh, cool! I bought mine at a local grocer. :) I’ll have to try that. I make a nut-butter-banana smoothie this would be great in.
I bought the sample pack online, which was a good deal especially being able to order in Canada. I am going to keep an eye out for it whenever I go shopping again though.
And that sounds like it would be excellent in your smoothie! I should try and use it in smoothies too – what do you put in your nut butter banana one – sounds healthy and delicious! :)
1/2 frozen banana, 1 tbsp whatever nut butter you like, pinch of salt (if unsalted nuts), dash vanilla, 1-ish cup milky stuff of choice, and sometimes chocolate chips. :D
Compared to teavivre’s golden tipped version, the dry leaf of this is larger and darker with a bit of gold. Scent is slightly less fragrant but still lovely.
Brews a darker cup and tastes more of chocolate and less potato, so perhaps a wee bit less delicate in taste as compared to the golden tip. Very delicious!!
I am glad I bought this and have gone through my bag quickly. I will certainly restock.
Preparation
Thank you to Angel at Teavivre for the sample.
Rinse x 2. Approx. 4g/3oz x 15 sec/steeps.
Wet leaf has the slightest hint of compost type scent initially but this disappears and switches to fruity apricot after the third cup.
First cup after the rinses tastes tart and cooling, but after that the taste becomes sweet and fruity with apricot and grape-like notes. Very pleasant hints of bitterness sort of like the taste of chewing on the seeds from grapes.
Light and refreshing, but also seems to have a peppery warming sensation awhile after drinking. Soft and lovely, with still more steeping to do.
Preparation
This was a sample sent with my whispering pines order.
I knew this was a blend of two teas but couldn’t recall which ones when I made it. Right after the first sip, I knew there was the Ailaoshan black, but then also could detect keemun. Ah, delicious!
I might even prefer this blend to the straight ailaoshan – it has more grain and chocolate malt notes which meld with the fruitiness so beautifully.
A fancy and gentle breakfast tea, which would also be good anytime of day.
Preparation
Quick rinse in boiling water and steeped 7 minutes in an 8 ounce mug.
Brewed color is coffee-like, and smells earthy with the light scent of cooked rice – very fragrant.
Tastes rich and earthy with a hint of sweetness that again would be similar to boiled rice.
Very nice, and I drank it with milk added which increased the sweet taste and added an extra smooth creaminess.
I think this would be an excellent and convenient option to take with you when not at home and craving a nice cup of pu-erh without any fuss.
Thank you to Angel at TeaVivre for sending this sample!
Miracles are all around. Glad you were blessed with this. Sometimes we just have to look for the little ones we are given each day. :)
