149 Tasting Notes
Finally, a chocolate tea that tastes like chocolate. Good chocolate mint flavor, reminds me of the Velamints candies I used to have as a kid. Like most chocolate teas, this does have a bit of an artificial flavor, but not enough to bother me. Prepared with almond milk and stevia.
This review is for the bagged version of this tea. I’ve never had Keemun Panda before, so I don’t have anything to compare this to. To me this tea tastes malty and smoky. I am not really getting a winey or fruity flavor out of it. The flavor is good, just not what I was expecting. The teabags from this company contain a lot of tea and produce a very strong cup, so be careful not to oversteep. Prepared with stevia.
Preparation
A nice, versatile, super cheap rooibos (purchased in bulk on Amazon). Seems to be great quality and flavorful. I plan on using this as a base for a lot of herbal and fruit blends. Very good on its own as well. Prepared with or without almond milk, sweetened with regular or flavored stevia.
This is a very lightly flavored green tea. The green tea base is a good, run of the mill sencha. I don’t really taste pineapple or papaya, just something vaguely tropical, mostly in the aftertaste. Not bad, but I prefer my teas more heavily flavored than this. Prepared with stevia.
I know absolutely nothing about green teas and rarely drink them, so they all kind of taste the same to me. This was better than most. The dry leaf had a bit of a mint smell, but nothing that I could taste after steeping. The tea had more of a fresh taste than what I am used to with most greens. There was a bit of earthiness as well. It thankfully lacked the veggie-type taste and smell that I think many greens have (some remind me too much of spinach). If I was going to drink unflavored green tea on a regular basis, this would probably be my top pick. Prepared with stevia.
Very flavorful and malty. Maybe a little harsh, but I think Irish Breakfast is supposed to be that way. I always drink this sweetened and with milk (sometimes with flavored sweeteners). This tea is still decent even when I forget about it and totally oversteep it – just add more milk and sweetener. I always need to have this in my cupboard.
This tea is better than I remembered. Maybe it was because I forgot it was steeping and let it go for about 20 minutes. I didn’t taste the chamomile in it at all. It had a good mint flavor, but without the bite that mint often has (more like spearmint than peppermint). Tasted very refreshing, yet was calming at the same time. Prepared with stevia.
I didn’t like the first steep of this tea at all. It seemed very astringent and almost a bit salty (I did rinse the tea before the first steep). But on the second through sixth steeps, it was great. The taste seems kind of toasty and a bit nutty. The flavor was full, even after so many steeps. I probably could have gotten even more steeps out of it, but wanted to start drinking something else for the evening. Considering I normally only drink flavored teas, I really enjoyed this one.
