308 Tasting Notes
I was randomly craving orange juice this morning, but I can’t stomach orange juice unless it’s freshly squeezed (sans pulp). That sounds like something a bougie hipster would say. It’s just that orange juice, as Sophia Petrillo would say, repeats on me. TMI. :P
This is a lovely substitute. It’s a lovely, light combination of orange and papaya that’s super refreshing over ice. I haven’t been able to sell what’s left of this gigantic 250g bag I bought from DT last year, so I’ve decided to just add it to my sipdown pile.
Redberry Tonic + Jungle Ju Ju, iced.
I need to buy more of this, but I hate having to place orders on two different sites because of inventory. Not cool, but it’s so delicious iced or chilled. With temperatures already hitting 90° F, I need to bulk up my stash of fruity teas to enjoy over the next six months. I might cave.
Another tea from my Pick N Mix experience pack.
I had to do a double-take of the packaging when I sipped this hot and straight this morning. There’s banana in this? I didn’t taste much other than black tea with the slightest hint of vanilla. I added a bit of sweetener and a good splash of (almond) milk before taking a second sip.
Truthfully, given the name I was expecting a more in-your-face banana tea. That said, the tea did not disappoint. The banana flavor is subtle but delicious. I sort of wish there were more bananas in my bag because the flavor they’re giving me is more natural than artificial. I definitely don’t get the banana candy flavor (think Runts) that seems to be so prevalent in the banana teas I’ve tried. I’m so used to bananas being paired with chocolate in teas that I assumed chocolate was in this blend as well. I’m really glad it’s not. It would’ve overpowered the lovely, delicate banana flavor. It’s lovely as a breakfast tea and would probably make a killer latte. I need to start making a list of teas to latte (latte is a verb, right?) on weekends.
I might repurchase this when I’ve used up some of the other banana teas hanging out in my collection.
Flavors: Creamy
I’m having a remarkably craptastic week (it’s only Wednesday!) so I made a tea cocktail when I got home yesterday afternoon. If I had cake or cookies or ice cream or any sort of sweets at home, I would’ve eaten them for dinner. Seriously, so bad.
Cranberry Pear (steeped as you would for a latte) + brown sugar + Bailey’s + almond milk, over ice.
Sweet merciful heavens, I die.
So that’s why my tea cocktails always turned out poorly- I never steeped it strong enough! Thanks for the tip!
Yeah, I’d definitely experiment. I made a big drink (a bit over 16 ounces), and it was essentially a latte with Bailey’s added so that’s why I steeped it the way I did. YMMV, especially if you’re using a really strong tea to begin with (like a chai). But this is mostly fruit with a a fairly weak black tea base, so I figured stronger would be better. :)
Peaches & Cream + Queen of Tarts (2:1) over ice.
So tired. Honestly, I’m surprised I’ve made it to noon. I think the mate is really helping. I almost stopped at Starbucks on the way to work this morning, just to order a few shots of espresso. I’m so glad I have a few mate options tucked away at my desk. The next time DT has a B2G1 sale I’m going to have to stock up on QoT.
Side note, I’m really bummed that Just Peachy is (supposedly) returning as the May TOTM. I was really hoping they’d bring this one back instead. I guess I need to find another peach-heavy fruit infusion that isn’t loaded with apple pieces…
I love the peach and blackberry flavor combo, so if anyone has any recommendations, please help a sista out.
Floral, apple bubblegum. Is that a thing? I don’t do floral teas so I knew this would most likely be a miss for me as soon as I sniffed the contents of the little sample bag I received from a teapal.
Another reviewer said it was syrupy, and I’d agree. It’s sweet but not sickeningly sweet to my tastebuds. There’s a lot of apple flavor, but it reads apple candy to me (not fresh apple). The quince is adding a little bit of tartness that’s really quite present in the back of my throat at the end of the sip. It’s also adding a bit of pear-like flavor but not much.
It’s like a tart, floral variation of Honeycrisp Apple.
The aftertaste reminds me of pink liquid penicillin. Blech. No thank you.
LOL! No worries. I was really hoping to like it because I quite enjoy quince, but it just did not agree with my taste buds. :/
Haha I got a sample of this in my most recent order and was drinking it this morning! ;)
