I got this as a sample with a recent order. I finally gave it a try because it sounded like a nice dessert tea to quiet the voice in my head telling me to raid the work fridge for some sort of sweets at about 3pm. I’ll preface this by saying I don’t normally like red rooibos or honeybush blends. I just don’t like the flavor that comes from a red rooibos or honeybush base.

That said, the “mango blueberry crumble” bit sounded too good not to try. I added a few drops of stevia and a splash of cream, and it was so satiating and comforting. Had this been a black tea blend I would’ve stockpiled. To my surprise, the mango-blueberry pairing really worked. It legit tasted like a delish summertime baked good, not that I’d ever dream of turning on an oven in south Texas on a hot summer day unless it was absolutely necessary.

But I digress…it was tasty, even if I didn’t care for the honeybush base.

I wanted to try this blend because I really wanted to like DT’s Coco-Lemon Thai but it just didn’t agree with my taste buds. Sadly, I didn’t care for this blend either. I like coconut and lemon as ingredients, but I don’t think the pairing works for me. Sadly, this tea actually made me queasy. I’ll be adding this to my sell/swap box.

The name is spot on. This tea is so tart and so sour, and I am so here for it. I (almost) always sweeten my teas, but I can see why people who prefer unsweetned teas might not be keen on this blend. It is legit sour. There’s no avoiding that unless you dramatically shorten the steeping time…but then it’d probably be fairly flavorless. I’ve read it gets more sour the longer you steep. I steeped for about 10 minutes and it was perfectly lip-puckering sour to me. The flavor reminds me of sour ropes/straws/gummies, and I dig it.

I’ll also add that I’m thrilled DT has found another (water)melon blend that doesn’t have carrots in it!!!

Flavors: Pleasantly Sour

Rainbow Sherbet is probably my favorite tea from the summer collection which is a complete surprise to me. I was on the fence about it when I ordered because I don’t really care for pineapple-heavy teas, but it really does taste like pineapple/raspberry/orange sherbet to me. I kind of miss the lime flavor, because my favorite rainbow sherbets include lime, but I might try mixing it with Sweet Lime or just a squeeze of lime juice the next time I steep. I’ve read reviews/tasting notes comparing the flavor of this blend to Fruit Stripe gum and I completely agree. I’ll probably stock up on this one before the end of the season.

It’s like Berry Poppins with about half the hibiscus. Since there’s less hibiscus the other flavors come through more, so it’s fruitier and creamier than Berry Poppins. It’s delicious cold or iced. I think I like it more than Berry Poppins because the hibiscus isn’t overpowering the other ingredients. I purchased 100g on a whim, and I will probably buy more before the end of summer.

It pairs really nicely with Queen of Tarts on those mornings when I need that extra boost a maté tea provides.

Flavors: Blackberry, Cream, Creamy, Fruity

drank Root Beer Float by 52teas

I received a sample of this tea with a recent order. To be honest, I wasn’t terribly jazzed about it because root beer isn’t really my jam. But a free sample is better than no sample, right? Beggars can’t be choosers and so forth.

This is another solid flavored black tea blend from 52Teas. Beautiful (lighter) black tea base that doesn’t compete with the other flavors. The smell of the dried leaf is spot on. On its own and hot, I don’t get much of the “float.” The vanilla is very subtle. It tastes like hot flat root beer. LOL! I had no intention of drinking it hot, though. I poured it over ice and added a splash of half & half, and it’s absolutely magical. I never thought I’d say this about a root beer flavored tea, but it’s one of the best teas I’ve tasted so far this year.

This has been sitting around in my stash. I was getting tired of having coffee every morning at work, so I chucked this in my handbag earlier this week. I’ve had a cup every day for the past four days, and it’s really delightful. It’s one of the better chocolate teas I’ve had in recent memory. It tastes very rich and sinful even though it’s not. I like it best as a latte because dairy (or non-dairy milk for that matter) really brings out the creaminess that you’d get with an actual eclair. All in all, another solid flavored black tea blend from 52Teas. Recommended for those that enjoy dessert and/or chocolate teas.

drank Pumpkin Juice by 52teas

I really need to start both a sip-down challenge and a sell/swap pile. My stash is getting a bit out of hand.

This is a fairly recent purchase for me. I’m not a huge fan of green teas, but I’ve been looking for a nice spiced pumpkin tea that has pumpkin in it but doesn’t have carrot in the ingredient list. Plus, it’s named “Pumpkin Juice.” How could I not buy it?

I’m having it as an iced latte this morning, but I’ve sampled it hot and unsweetened too.

Hot and straight, it tastes like spiced apple cider – y’know the kind you make in a crockpot for company over the holidays. But it’s not just any old spiced apple cider, it’s spiced apple cider that’s been warming away with slices of pumpkin added to the mix. It’s very warming and comforting, especially on cool mornings. The green tea base isn’t bitter or overly assertive. I don’t taste much pineapple, but that’s fine by me. Pineapple isn’t normally my jam. The level of spice is just right.

It’s quite nice as an iced latte as well. I think the addition of dairy makes it taste more like a baked good – like apple cake batter. The pumpkin flavor is lost in my cup this morning, but it’s still a nice lil’ drink. I’ll just have to remember to enjoy it hot when I’m wanting a tea that tastes of pumpkin.

52Teas is quickly becoming one of my favorite tea companies. I’ve just been so impressed with so many of their blends lately.

I enjoyed the last few teaspoons from my sampler bag this morning. I’m really quite surprised by how much I am enjoying this blend. I think it’s just so comforting and so festive. It genuinely reminds me of the holidays.

I totally gilded the lily this morning, but it’s quite nice with a splash of homemade eggnog.

I’m glad I bought a large bag of this blend to savor over the next few weeks.

I finished off my sample bag by cold-steeping the last few teaspoons in a pitcher. Cold-steeped it reminds me a bit of David’s Sweet Lime with cranberries thrown into the mix. I just enjoyed the last cup or so topped with some carbonated water. It’s so refreshing. I cannot wait to receive my stock-up order of this tea.

If anyone has any recommendations for fruity green rooibos blends, please let me know. :)

52Teas

Psst: we have another green rooibos blend (quite fruity!) coming up this month!
