330 Tasting Notes

Okay, it’s not quite that bad, but my head is pretty zoomy right now. Luckily, as with all the other times I’ve drank matcha it’s a handle-able zoom.
I am definitely alert and awake now.
I brought my lesser liked of the two matcha bowls I have and my old whisk and spare scoop to work, along with half of my tin of matcha. It actually worked pretty well, except for sifting. I tried bringing the rinsing screen thing I got with my gaiwans to use as a sifter, but the screen is too fine, and it just clogged up. I need a second sifter for work, I guess.
Preparation
I checked my cupboard at home last night, and I am indeed out of all major Earl Greys excepting some decaf teabags and a DavidsTea sample someone sent me. Woohoo! I needed something to take to work for an everyday stash, preferably a black, so I picked through my tins. I noticed this one had gotten pushed to the back, so I decided it was a good candidate for being my morning work tea.
I brewed up a cup this morning, and it’s doing its job quite nicely. No bitterness, just a good basic cuppa. It goes well with my breakfast of hard-boiled eggs and grapes. I am actually wishing for something malty this morning, but that is not this tea’s fault.
My last cup of this at work. I need to see if I have any more at home before I remove it from the cupboard here. I think that’s it though. Other than decaf teabags and possibly one small sample, I am mostly EG free. I think.
This cup is tasting particularly good. Perhaps it’s trying to lure me back into the arms of the Earl… no! I won’t do it! I am tired of you! :D
Just a note, more for myself. I ordered some sort of Peppermint Candy Cane tea for a friend on my last Adagio order to save her the shipping costs. She gave me one of the bags, as we trade teas all the time. I can’t find what looks like the right one in the Steepster db so I am noting this under Random Steepings.
Unfortunately, I am not a fan of this tea. It’s a black tea with peppermint blend, but I think there’s some coconut in it. Not really doing it for me this morning. Not really bad, just not to my liking. I would not order it for myself.
Second and last packet from an old Steepster monthly box. /mourn
This is really good – I made the first cup as per the packet – 6 oz @ 45 second steep, and it was good. I steeped the leaves again for much longer and it never really got oversteeped, so that’s quite nice.

Le sigh. I was pretty sure I posted a review of this, as it was sent to me by TeaBrat. But the review is gone, and it is missing from my Cupboard on the site.
I just brewed the second (and last) packet.
I rather like this. It’s nice and fruity. I think I will go by the one place I know carries it and see if they have marked it down now that the holidays are over.

Preparation
They say you should start a new year out doing what you intend to do in the new year. So for New Year’s Eve I am drinking tea (it’s already next year in about half the world now), and will do so all of my 5 day birthday weekend. My b-day is Monday, so I took Friday and Monday off. My office is closed tomorrow and we closed at noon today, so I am having an early start on my long holiday weekend. I shall have a tea-filled holiday.
I decided to try and polish something off, so I brewed the last of my Adagio LS. I actually had to toss in a little A&D Assam to get enough for a pot, and it blends in quite nicely. Now the next time I am in the mood for LS, I will get to try my Mandala LS. Yay!
So Happy New Year to all my Steepster friends. I hope you have a lovely one.
