I had enough of this left for one jumbo mug after sharing (you guys will love it!) No worries on there not being any more for me…like I am running out of tea! (heavy sarcasm) I will admit to liking it better on the second mug. It might be on my repurchase list one day, but there are so may other teas to ‘entertain’. And lots of other teas to ‘meet’.

I recently ordered a sample of this as I am always on the lookout for a good blueberry tea that I can easily obtain (because of my intense love of Blueberry Cream Cheese Danish from 52teas…). This one is pretty good. I think I like the Blueberry Pie version from Teas Etc. a little better, but both are just good.

Anyone else know of a good blueberry black tea with good prospects of availability?

Trader Joe’s has a Blueberry Green that I really, really like … are you near one?

SimplyJenW

Yes. Not much of a green fan, though.

IllBeMother221B

I don’t know of a good blueberry black tea, but Blueberry Bliss from Teavana (a rooibus) is pretty good.

SimplyJenW

I do have a Teavana close, but I have not yet made it there. I might have to check it out at some point.

KeenTeaThyme

Blueberry Syrup from CA Tea house is pretty good. I have some left from my sample, if you want to try, PM me. :)

SimplyJenW

KiTT-What I should have said: Thank you for the offer, but that one is an herbal. I really am looking for a bluberry black. I do so appreciate the offer, though!

KeenTeaThyme

DUH – just saw the last sentence of your review! I just glossed over that part. My bad!

KeenTeaThyme

To make up for my earlier faux pas, I just found a decent blueberry black tea – bagged, too, surprisingly. Mlesna Tea. It was a free sample with my Culinary Teas order but it’s so yummy I’d buy it!

SimplyJenW

Thanks KiTT…I will look for that!

SimplyJenW

Oooh. Looks like it comes in loose leaf, too!

I am breaking out of my usual black tea variety. I think this is my first straight up Nilgiri. While it is not as honeyed or cocoa-noted as what I normally drink, this really is a good tea. It is nearly a perfect balance between the tea I usually drink and coffee. No real bitterness or astringency, just good, basic black tea. This one also comes in at a bargain. It is $5.20 for 200 grams or about 75 cents an ounce.

Here’s to broadening our tea horizons! :)

gmathis

Here’s to pretty economical tea buys!

SimplyJenW

Yep, we take the bargains where we can get them so we can splurge once in a while! :D

Uniquity

Man, I need to place an order with Upton sometime, when I know a bit more about my black tea preferences! I LOVE the prices!

SimplyJenW

Upton is definitely one of my top few favorite places to order tea!

IllBeMother221B

A friend of mine has been trying to convert me to Upton for a while now. One of these days I’ll have to try something from them. That is a really good price for tea.

SimplyJenW

I love that they have something for every pricepoint. And they offer samples, so you can decide if the extra money is worth it for the more expensive tea. Sometimes it is….but sometimes it isn’t.

My first cuppa The Mafia….. I had been wanting to give this tea a try, as did a friend over the border, so we worked out a swap. There is just something about the juxtapositon of Jane Austen and the Mafia that makes me wonder how Jane would have handled herself in the time of Al Capone…… This one just arrived today. I have to say, it is pretty good. The flavor blends do work, and it almost doesn’t need additions. I do normally sweeten a bit, and this one just tasted better with a touch of sweet. It is mostly blackberry with a light amount of vanilla, even though I could smell some cream in the dry tea. The tea base has a slight bitter edge, but just enough to add interest.

I really will enjoy finishing this one. (They did send a little more than I was expecting, so I have some to share.) However, after sampling at other tea companies, Adagio in general seems kind of average. I do so appreciate their variety, ease of ordering, and that they were my gateway into the vast world of tea.
ETA: I have shared all I can this round…..

Would you consider a benevolent cuppa for a total stranger? :) It sounds wonderful!

QueenOfTarts

I’ve been wanting to try this one, too! Sounds yummy.
I completely agree with your opinion on Adagio. Their tea isn’t the best, but the ease of ordering makes it a popular choice!

SimplyJenW

QofT…I added one to your Valetine’s package….(sounds like a late holiday package!)

And with that, I am out of samples if I want to have any to drink myself. I did contact those who asked, and I am sending some out tomorrow!

I am dragging a little these days. My kids have only a little over a week of school left, and we are definitely overscheduled. Luckily, all of the things we are doing are very fun, and all part of having a young teen and pre-teen in the house.

Here is where I get back to the tea….. This afternoon I was thinking of the perfect tea pick me up. Usually, it is Rose Congou, but I had that yesterday. Today, nothing by my favorite Keemun Mao Feng would do. I wish I could think of wonderful words to decribe the taste of this tea, but for now, since I am spent, we will have to settle for restoration in a cup.

Thank you to ashmanra for graciously sending me a few sachets to try. This is a wonderful tea, and I do agree with other reviewers that it is like Paris Light. There is a solid and full black base with hints of honey, berries, and the ever so light hint of bergamot. Lovely and very rich tasting.

It is on my shopping list! And will be my replacement for Paris….. Paris is good, too, but I am really liking the lighter bergamot.

I love the honey flavor on this one. I am going to switch over too once I’m done with my berry tea (it’s Paris and a few other berry teas all mixed together because I had so many bits and bobs).

Note to self……pass on this one. I am thinking it was some version of passionfruit tea, but not one I would consider owning. Brewed to specifications on tag. As far as a rating goes, I am not qualified to rank this one as it did not appeal to me at all.

Edit to add…..It was too much fruit flavor and not nearly enough tea flavor. It was kind of like drinking dried fruit except wetter?

QuiltGuppy

Maracuyá is the Spanish word for passionfruit. Did it taste like it at all?

SimplyJenW

It did, but kind of a deeper and stronger version of others I had tried. It was nearly all fruit and no tea flavor. I like tea with my fruit when I get a fruit flavored black…. or I would just get a fruit tisane.

QuiltGuppy

I’ve had a few like that. I agree, it’s nice when you get a perfect blend of flavor.

Dinosara

I’m intrigued by this tea, so I’d be happy to swap you for it! Though I won’t be able to send anything for two weeks. You can look in my cupboard now, or when I get back (I’ll have tons of European teas!)

SimplyJenW

I would definitely send it to you if I still had it. There was only about a cup left in my sample, so I threw it away. I am in that Spring Cleaning mode…..

Dinosara

Oh well, I totally understand about spring cleaning mode! I’ve definitely been feeling the need for cleaning out old samples lately.

It really does taste somewhere between a congou and a keemun. Brew is almost reminiscient of the color of coffee. And it makes me happy. Who doesn’t appreciate happiness under $5?

I decided this one needed to be in my cupboard. This is one of those teas that just tastes right, and the price only makes it easier to purchase! Thank you, Upton!

Hmmmm….the jury is still out on this one. I am on my second cup of three (and it is a bagged tea!) I do like it and it seems to lack the artificial taste in decafs that I really dislike. I am so thankful to Caitlin for sending me a few of these to try before buying the 100 pack at Amazon. The chocolate and hazelnut are light, but I don’t really mind much. I really do think this one will work. I have one more teabag to decide…… 100 bags is a big commitment. ;)

It is too funny that as I am in the process of using this one up…I am growing to like it more. If it just did not smell so soapy dry, it would be on the repurchase list. At least I have several more afternoons of this tea left……

I think I bought a sample of this once, but I don’t remember it. I will have to throw a sample in my order! I did buy Rose Scented Black and I like it quite well.

SimplyJenW

Or someone could send you some!

ashmanra

Someone could, indeed! :)

My motto: Drink the good tea!

Tea enthusiast, trying to keep up my cardio for the zombie apocalypse. I have come to accept that I am a western brewing black tea drinker as that is where my ‘tea heart’ lies. I started on loose leaf as a way to have my dessert and not suffer the caloric issues. Once I tried it, I was hooked.

I drink what I like, which is mostly China blacks, a few traditionally scented blacks and Earl Greys, plus a flavored tea here and there. I don’t mind spending a bit on premium varieties on occasion, but an expensive tea has to deliver. My favorite places to order are Harney & Sons and Upton Tea Imports. TeaVivre is great for Chinese tea.

My ratings are pretty subjective. If it falls under 70, I may not take the time to post about it unless I had something specific to say. If it is 70-80 I like it, but I will probably not rebuy. Favorites are over 80 and up, but sometimes the less expensive or more easily obtainable version of a similar taste will win out for my cupboard space.

Usual teapot steeping method: 24 oz teapot, 3 perfect scoops of tea (4 1/2 actual tsp), freshly boiled water, 4 minutes. Lightly sweetened.

Usual mug steeping method: 15 oz mug, 1.5 perfect scoops of tea (just over 2 actual tsp), freshly boiled water, 4 minutes. Lightly sweetened.

Usual pan method: 1 1/2 cups water, 2 perfect tsp chai (3 actual tsp). Simmer for 3 minutes. Add 2/3 cup skim milk. Simmer for 2 more minutes. Strain and sweeten.

Usual pitcher method:
5 or 6 Perfect Spoons of tea (this means about 7-9 actual tsp), freshly boiled water, brewed essentially double-strong in my 24 oz teapot for 4 minutes. Fill my Fiestaware Disc pitcher (about 60 oz.) halfway with ice. Add brewed double-strong tea to the pitcher. Stir it a little and enjoy. No additions.

(*SRP is my Sample/Stash Reduction Plan starting on April 12, 2012. I got so far, but just decided it was too fussy to keep track.)
