2291 Tasting Notes
This is a Lychee Chinese Black I got from Bear With Me, last time I visited. IDK when that was though. D:
It’s really really good. I’m having it with some cream, because it’s what I had in the fridge. Super fruity and floral, although I’m not sure I’d really pick out lychee flavour. So much of a lychee is the experience peeling it, and then the funny texture of the fruit. :)
Thanks so much! I have enough for another mug, but I think that will go quickly…
Preparation
I forgot about this tea, so it’s now out where I will see it and drink it.
Still not my favourite, but it gave a good caffeine hit this morning. I’m weaning off coffee, you see.
(It’s not going so great.)
(I might be heading out to buy coffee shortly.)
LOL!
Nothing wrong with coffee. In fact, it has health benefits. I almost always start my day with coffee. Of course, I then brew a pot of tea about mid morning.
I drink coffee regularly, but sometimes it causes me to have ulcers so I’ll go off it for a little while until I get better.
Have not found coffee. Need moar tea. OMG. (My area has a lot of Italian specialty stores, so I got cheese and olives and prosciutto and bacon ends for good prices. Coffee? $$$.)
Maddy, I like to bring tea to work with me, but I generally drink a cup in the morning as well. I’ve just been having LOTS of coffee with the new temporary office always having a pot brewing. So I was trying to wean off. I’ll have to bring some pre-filled tea bags to work with me.
Whoa. A cup of COFFEE in the morning as well. Like you. Hahaha. So not with it. :D
I couldn’t have coffee for over a year, after I got a real bad GI bug. :( That was super sad, but also when I started getting more into tea again. I still should be careful with the coffee though.
Yum yum yum. This tea is so neat.
I’m having it with some honey. It’s just so fresh and crisp.
(Not a sipdown though. I still have a little left. :D )
I have been tempted by this one for a while. It looks interesting and unique. Maybe I should bite the bullet and purchase already.
Drinking this today for a bit. Here’s hoping it goes better than last time! Especially now that I have a bit more experience with sheng.
Now my opinion is that it’s pretty light. There’s a neat thickness to it, and some smoke and leather, but it’s nicely mellowed. Yum. It’s a little bitter, a little sweet. Just what I was wanting, actually!
At this point in my taste evolution, I’d say I’d like more of this tea. LOL. Oh well.
Oh, this one is interesting. But in a way where I don’t think I want to drink it.
It feels pretty rich. Kind of like a gunpowder in the way that it’s a teensy bit smoky/earthy with some sensations of being in the open air on a mountain side. But the green vegetable notes are really not agreeing with me. :(
Thank you, fuzzypeachkin, but this is so not for me. I’m not sure if it’s the age, but I would think that this tea would age pretty well due to its shape and apparent processing.
Edit: Also marine notes. That might actually be it. Sorry tea, it’s definitely me.
Preparation
Oh. My god.
I’ve had these samples for TWO YEARS.
I’m so sorry, fuzzypeachkin and CrowKettle. I’m drinking them today I swear. O.o
Anyways, this Assam is a decent Assam? It’s a little sweet. Malty with that typical Assam flavour. I’m actually drinking it WITHOUT milk, which is almost unheard of, but it’s nice. I haven’t had a straight Assam for a while, so I’ll just sit here and enjoy the cup.
In other news, the orange part is chipping off my DavidsTea Halloween mug. The colour change parts are fine, but the surrounding colour is leaving. WTF. :/
So strange about the mug! Is the paint chipping off or wearing off?
I know you said yours doesn’t have this problem, but t almost bought that colour-changing candy cane mug on sale the other day but remembered how previous versions’ colour-changing stuff would peel off.
As a (SURPRISE!) eggnog latte.
I steeped 10 minutes in a preheated mug with a lid, using BOILING water. I wanted AS MUCH FLAVOUR as possible.
And it worked, I think? Still not a lot of banana. Definitely nut and bread tho. And it works well with the creamy nutmeg of the eggnog.
I’ve moved onto booze. The only drama I have with booze is getting tipsy and declaring my love for everyone. So. Not that bad.
Haha OMGsrsly, I do the same when drunk except I also text and that makes for awkwardness in the morning :P
I once told one of my managers that we should be besties. Luckily he is young and also likes drinking so he was quite entertained by the whole thing. It could have been much worse in retrospect but when I read that I was just like oh no.
That’s a good idea. As for me, I should probably invest in one of those apps that stops you from texting for a period of time. I can also lock it when I am in class too and thus I shouldn’t get distracted.
Oh blackcurrant, why you gottta smell so BAD?! D: D: D:
Thankfully I’ve made this in a travel mug, so I can put the lid on it and don’t have to smell it.
Ahh, that’s better. It’s a fairly light tea, I think I could have steeped it a little hotter. But it’s pretty nice! The blackcurrant-peach flavour is really nice, and delicate at this point as it’s in my travel mug. I’m quite enjoying this.
Thanks so much, uhh, tea fren. :) (MissB maybe? I got it when I visited Sil.)
Preparation
Oh, apparently I’ve tried this one already. So that means I need less water, since I didn’t weigh the sample.
I am sick. Definitely coming down with some sort of terrible cold thing. MEH. And today I do need to go into work, but I think I’ll do that, then come home and get back into pyjamas and drink more tea.
I kinda like this one, even though it’s super green today, and a little watery because I keep mis-judging how much water I need to put in my pot. Haha. Oh well. I haven’t had a sheng in a while, so I’m hoping this gives me some energy to go deal with work stuff for a couple hours.
I totally forgot I’d had this one, and pulled it out of the stash as an easy sipdown.
YUM. How delightful.
If I didn’t have SO MUCH TEA, I’d totally consider getting more of this one. I do like it. The spice notes and warming sensation are really neat.
Thanks so much for sharing, Dexter!
Happy New Year, all! :)
Ahhhhhh – so you really did have tons….
I’m still planning strategy for cupboard reduction over the next couple of months.
Yeah, the cakes are heavy. Really heavy. :P Of course, a lot of my weights are estimations because I’ve broken some teas up into tins, etc. But yes, I have a lot of tea. And I really wasn’t drinking it at all. :/
This tea contains the herb Hong Jing Tian, l.n. Rhodiola rosea, a male tonic. I thought I was going to have a heart attack from this tea, irregular racing heart beat.
