drank Butter Pecan Black Tea by 52teas

Hmm. I think I need to drink my thermoses in the opposite order to what I drank them today. This tea has had all the heat sucked out of it! (I’m gonna blame the terrible stone topped desk…)

But still, at this temp and in a thermos, it’s a really nutty black tea. I’m enjoying it.

Must caffeinate as much as possible, so honestly even if it wasn’t good I’d still drink it. But it is good so I’m happy to caffeinate and will finish this before moving on to coffee. Because I can smell that someone’s brewed a pot.

Hope the caffeine is helping the migraine.

OMGsrsly

Ehhhhh, sorta. Now I’m having the problem of all the painkillers upsetting my tummy. Oh well.

Dexter

Yes, blame the stupid desk – stone table thing….

I needed caffeine this morning omg. omgomgomgomg. (Migraine.)

So, yay tea? Also thanks to the coworker who got coffee for me. Haha.

My last bit of this tea.

Smells so so freaking good. Mapley. Vanilla-y. Yum.

Tastes good too, even though pear isn’t my favourite. But mostly it tastes like maple and cake this evening. It’s absolutely perfect. :)

This tea definitely surprised me, and I’m really glad!

And now that I’ve had this, and am feeling less poorly, I’m gonna feed the cat and run the errands. WHEE.

From Sil. :)

Not bad. Definitely get the cake flavours. And some vanilla. But the strawberry just isn’t quite there. I get a strawberry tea at Blenz (local cafe) that is really strawberry that I really like. And that’s what I hold all strawberry teas up to. Unfortunately, there’s not enough strawberry for me to mark this one as “love” on my spreadsheet. Just a “like”.

Christina / BooksandTea

I’m posting a review of this on Friday, but had the tea yesterday for my notes. When I taste and smell it, it reminds me of a strawberry-flavoured wafer – the pastry, the vanilla, the sugar, all that.

OMGsrsly

Huh. I can’t say I’ve ever had a strawberry flavoured wafer. Vanilla, yes. Chocolate, yes. But not strawberry…

Roswell Strange

Strawberry Wafers are so good! You need to treat your taste buds OMGsrsly!

OMGsrsly

Haha. :) I’ll have to see if I can find some gluten free strawberry wafers!

Sil sent me more of this, and I made a cup before I realized I already have some, and have already had some. :)

Still, it’s a super tasty oolong with big leaves and delicious buttery caramel flavours.

Nom.

Preparation

Sil

haha more to share!

MissB

Someday I will try this to see what the hubbub is all about! :)

Sil

it’s like tealish’s dulce de leche..only with that extra creaminess you get from a good green oolong (which i’m not typically a fan of)..more creamy, more butter and more caramel…but similar lol

OMGsrsly

I’ll set it aside for you, MissB! Along with the other salted caramel oolong. And the Tealish one, as I think I have some left…

These have been airing out for a while now. At one point I opened most of my plastic baggies of shou so they could breathe a little, and I think it’s really paid off.

I know I had this before, because I had a broken crumbly mess in the baggie. This time I took a whole tuo and I’m steeping it in the usual kyusu. ~145ml water fit for the first couple steepings, though I’m sure that will drop as the leaves absorb water and take more space.

This is super tasty! There’s a tiny, almost non-mentionable bit of musty/fermentation flavour. It’s a bit woody, but not like I’m gnawing on a piece of hardwood. A little spice and some dried fruits. Maybe some vanillin, like how old books smell.

Yum.

Sil

this makes me wish i could spend time with my larger sizes of puerh…but i need to get some of these samples taken care of heh

OMGsrsly

Haha. Well, I have two of these left. So it’s taking me closer to a sipdown. :) I might hoard this one for a while, though. It’s super tasty and I know that many of my other bits and bobs aren’t going to be as tasty as this.

Sil

hehe these i’m all out of but special dark has been calling my name

OMGsrsly

OMG. I still have one tiny sample of Special Dark. UGH so good. That one is definitely being saved. :)

Sil

i have uh…. like a bunch lol

OMGsrsly

Yeah, so does Dex. :) But I never managed to try this before they sold out. I thought I had, but I hadn’t…

OMGsrsly

I just used up 2 litres of water on this (one rinse) and it’s not even fully opened. Time to refill the kettle…

Thanks, Sil!

So this tea is a light lapsang. But not so much with the chestnuts. Lupicia’s discontinued Chaud les Marrons! is still my definitive roasted chestnut tea.

I do like this lapsang, though, so I will happily drink everything that’s left in the baggie Sil sent.

Sil

yep. it’s just a smokey tea

Thank you, Sil! omg.

This smells like star anise and booze. Seriously. The star anise and a dried/candy cherry note, the kind of cherry you would have in frangipane, dominates. This is, IMO, not an amaretto tea. The flavour profile is armagnac, and I’m getting a boozey anise-cherry interestingness. Not really any almonds, though there are almond slices in the dried leaf.

And it honestly tastes just like that. Anise. Booze. Cherry. Rooibos. It’s weirdly appealing, although I’m not sure I’d ever want to drink this often. I’m super curious about icing this now, but I used what was left for this mug. :D As an iced cocktail, this would be fantastic. As a hot tea, it is a little weird.

As it cools, my tongue is numb with the star anise.

I don’t know. I’m not sure I like this. I’m really glad I got to try it, though. It’s a super interesting flavour combination.

Flavors: Alcohol, Anise, Cherry

lol weirdo

OMGsrsly

I think this smells super good but I don’t want to drink it unless it’s a real boozy cocktail.

Sil

well you SOUNDED drunk :P

OMGsrsly

Sadly there was no booze involved. :(

This smells FANTASTIC.

SO SO GOOD. REAL CHOCOLATE. Not the fake weirdo chemically stuff. Real. Chocolate.

My cup was super full so I only added the tiniest bit of cream. OMG. So so good.

Sil mentioned Florence by H&S in one of her notes. This is way better, I agree. The flavouring of Florence felt really fake once I had finished all of it. This feels like I’m drinking dark chocolate tea. :)

Thanks so much, Sil!

haha i adore this one. I wish i’d picked up more in paris, but at the same time not because, well 3.5kg…

OMGsrsly

3.5, 4…. not much of a difference really. ;)

TeaBrat

sounds yummy

Sil

yeah… i dunno what possessed me

Evol Ving Ness

That’s only about seven pounds or so. Not so much. It could have been chocolate truffles or something along those lines.

From Sil.

This tea is a little more than just cinnamon, but it’s mostly just cinnamon.

I am craving snickerdoodles now, though. So I’ll definitely make a couple just for me. :D
