Quite acceptable, Earl Grey Supreme. It does have some noticeable bergamot, but nothing compared to the Earl Grey Imperial.

Adequate. When I have a cold, I will make free with this tea, and honey and lemon.

I brew this at the recommended 170F, but I find the jasmine flavor blooms once the tea has cooled for a couple of minutes. After that, I could drink it by the gallon.

I found this through a review in the Financial Times, in which the reviewers ranked it the third best Earl Grey tea on the market, behind a Harrods blend, and something from the Rare Tea Company. The scent and flavor of bergamot was pure and bright, while the tea itself was strong without being bitter. I believe H & S add some oolong to this blend, which possibly gives it a smoother flavor than an all-black blend.

I was dubious about this tea, but my first sip had me nearly swooning. Luscious, full-mouth feel, like a Grand Cru Bordeaux. Rich and round, mellow and lush. It’s the tea version of sex.

I bought a sample size bag of this and brewed it this chilly November evening. It was not to my taste at all, but perhaps I would appreciate it more during the interminable summer months.

For years I have disdained tea, because my mother drank Lipton Tea every morning, and forced me to drink it when I had a cold. Also, I grew up in KY, which meant that I was expected to lap up that aberration called “sweet tea.”

Then, Coca-Cola changed their formula for Coke Zero, and I was forced to find something else to swig all day long. I ordered sample sizes from various tea companies, and when I tasted Harney & Sons’ Earl Grey Imperial, I discovered that tea did not have to be an ordeal.

Now, I brew three to four pots of tea a day, and am having a blast trying out all sorts of varieties of teas.
