1040 Tasting Notes
Thank you scribbles for sending me this sample. I was intrigued by the description of it, but still a bit wary. I don’t always do well with lemon teas, I find a lot of them really astringent. Not sure what’s wrong with me, but I seem to have an issue with them. This was one of those. Almost bitter astringent. There is definitely some spiciness to this, I’m getting more pepper than ginger. I’m not going to rate this, I’m not a fair judge, but this one isn’t for me. Thanks anyway scribble, really appreciate the thought and generosity.
This was my tea choice at work today. Really surprised at how much the leaves unfurled, reminded me more of an oolong than a black. This was good, quite enjoyed it all day. It was very forgiving to the wonky steep times being at work. This is a really nice, everyday black tea. I don’t think it’s really special, but there’s not much wrong with it either.
Thank you scribbles for sending me a sample of this tea.
I’m having a hard time wrapping my taste buds around this. I like the fruitiness of it, I like the spice combination, I’m just not sure I like them together. I think this would be a really nice plum fruit tea OR a really nice spice chai tea, I’m just not sure it can be both (or at least not in my world).
Thank you so much for sending this to me. As always really glad to have had the opportunity to sample it.
I was drinking this all day at work today. One of our cook’s girlfriends brought it back from China. The tin said Lapsang Souchong and Empereur Tea Co. and a bunch of stuff in Chinese. I know nothing about this tea other than that.
I quite liked it HOT, as it cooled it got REALLY smokey and bitter. Hard to drink teas like that at work, they tend to cool on your desk as you get distracted from them. This will stay at home from now on and be enjoyed when I have time to devote to it.
I seem to be on a mate kick tonight. This is another one, I can’t believe I haven’t posted a tasting note.
It’s good I like it, but the raspberry is a bit weird to me. I don’t think fruit belongs in my mate. This is full of roasted, toasty, nutty, chocolate goodness with a hint of something almost coffee ish in the background – and then there is the raspberry just spoiling the party. I’m being harsh, I do like it, but without the fruit I would LOVE it.
Yep it did. I was organizing my teas tonight, I find it odd that I haven’t drank this for awhile, and then you sort your cupboard and I’m suddenly craving old favorites. LOL, just when I thought I was moving away from the desserty type teas.
Was spending time organizing my tea tonight – I have WAY too much. While doing that, I ran into this old friend. Haven’t had it in awhile, and I can’t believe I haven’t posted a tasting note. (I need to get more consistent with writing them).
I really adore, coffee-esque teas. I also really like roasted mate. This tea is everything I like about those. It has coffee, chocolate, and a bit of spice all swirling around in that wonderful mate base. This makes me happy.
Have you tried just straight roasted mate? It has some of the coffee notes. This specific tea has coffee beans added to it, but straight roasted mate might give you a little of that taste with out the actual coffee, or it might just make you long for the real thing. Not sure, just a suggestion.
Thank you scribbles for sending me a sample of this tea.
I’ve decided that I really like Tao Tea Leaf teas. This just isn’t my favorite. This is a nice, smooth, black tea, but it’s lacking something…. It’s not deep enough, dark enough, rich enough….something. It’s too mild. I’m not very experienced with black teas, and I think the moral of this story is that, golden needle isn’t my favorite black.
Thank you so much scribbles for helping me explore the world of black teas.
There are 258 (plus the one I’m writing) tasting notes on this tea. I’m sure I can’t say anything that hasn’t already been said.
This is a really nice dessert black tea, full of chocolate hazelnut goodness.
Thank you so much Nxtdoor for sending me a HUGE sample of this!!!! It’s awesome!!! LOVE it.
I was drinking this last night. This is very similar to Teopia’s Pumpkin Spice, and that makes me VERY happy – it was one of my favorites before they were taken over by Teavana.
I agree with what Tea Sipper said about it being more like cantaloupe than pumpkin, but somehow that works for me. It’s not overly spicy, just a little bit. There are cardamom pods – I love cardamom. I will defiantly re-order this one. Happy to have found a Teaopia replacement – now if I could just find a Creamy Nut Oolong.
love that as a breakfast/morning tea:) yummy with a little cream or milk too. kind of like oatmeal :)
I think I would like it more if it were Oatmeal chocolate chip cookie, but it’s a fun little tea.
Love oatmeal chocolate chip cookies! Just add a few chocolate cups yourself:) ill have to try that in the morning! Yay now I’m excited
