This is confusing for me. It has a lot of the toasted rice genmaicha flavors that I’m used to, but so much more. I’m not sure chocolaty is quite how I feel about it, but definitely dark and rich – malty is a word used, maybe I get some of that. Burned caramel – not really burned, just catching it right on the verge, and you know you’ve over cooked it but taste it hoping you don’t have to start again – thats the kind of sweetness that’s in here. I think it’s more oolong than black, but what do I know…. I guess it really doesn’t matter if I’m getting all the “correct” flavors I like it.
I know, shouldn’t wreck really good tea with additives, but in my world this is good straight, really good with a little sweetener, and AMAZING with a little sweetener and a splash of milk. The little touch of milk just brings out the caramely, toasty, goodness. I don’t care, that’s what makes me happy.

Hey, there are no shoulds here. Drink it any way you like it!
OR as we used to say in one of my 12-step groups, “Don’t Should on yourself!”
it’s your tea… who cares about ‘supposed to’s’? i take it the same way.

terri, you are quite the lady. should is a very inflammatory word: assumption, expectation, judgement… it’s a great way to make people angry. can you tell i’m gearing up for my 4 year school push? lol. not even summers off.
