516 Tasting Notes
Just a note that I will be swapping this one away once I have some monies!
Wanted to give a heads up in case this was on anyone’s list to try but they won’t get a chance to try it with the promo – I will help! :D
I would loooove to swap for this eventually! Keep me in mind when you do decide to. My cupboard is up to date and there’s not much I wouldn’t be willing to split/sample :D
Awesome dahling, I will pop you a PM when it’s swapping time! :D Just waiting on a few more paycheques and we should be good to go ^^
Yummy in my tummy.
This is today’s bottled iced matcha drink! I added a tiny pinch of sugar for a treat – it is wonderful. I feel like a small child. haha!
I will also say, my hands are shaking – but it’s not the matcha! Just some good old fashioned workplace conflict. Hooray! Hanging in there though – only 1 more hour!
Have I mentioned lately that Steepster is my safe place? Thanksuguys!
I’d so much rather be shaky from matcha. :( Just get yourself home and have a calming cup of tea. Check out the latest on dog-shaming.com. Or cuteoverload.com. All better!
Thank you SO much Zen Tea for this amazing sample!
Coconut Oolong, where have you been all my life? This is a seriously amazing oolong, it’s delicate but full of coconut flavour – CREAMY and slightly floral while being naturally sweet.
Milky and buttery – the dry smell almost reminded me of buttered popcorn.
Resteeping and putting in the fridge for a delicious iced tea, I can’t wait!
This will definitely be a cupboard staple when I have the means.
I am SO excited to write this review for the amazing Cookies & Cream flavour on my first time trying the Black matcha base! I’ll ruin the surprise and say it is a delicious change from the usual.
I feel like this flavour is perfect for the Black base, as when I think of Cookies & Cream I think of oreos, or the yummy white chocolate bar with dark cookie bits in it. I feel like they were kind of meant to be together, and since it was on sale I thought it a perfect chance to give it a try!
The scent and flavour is wonderful – not vegetal like the green matcha, I can’t really smell the base tea through the strength of the yummy C&C flavour (I did splurge for Robust this time!).
I whisked it up and it was very smooth! Not as frothy, but no lumps – so far so good. As for the taste, it is such a nice change from my other matchas! I would guess it is a China black – what I can tell about the base is that it is naturally sweet and goes perfectly with the chocolate flavours in the tea.
I used 185 for the temp to be safe, since I’m consuming the leaves instead of just steeping them, I didn’t want it to scorch or burn! Delicious first few sips, but with the addition of milk and sugar it transforms! Have you ever had powdered Milk Tea? It totally reminded me of that – I’m sure it’s the same idea actually, except now you get to control what the milk is (almond? Soy? 2%?) and the amount of sugar! Total comfort in the cup with the taste of chocolate cookies with a creamy white icing.
I’m glad I went for Robust, but next time I would get even more flavouring for this one – that said, I might just need to get used to the Black base and the flavouring will pop even more!
Here’s where it can be found, I definitely recommend the black base: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/cookies-and-cream-matcha.html
Let me begin by saying that I’ve read all the reviews for this matcha, and although it sounds delicious, I never thought Bavarian Cream would be a flavour I crave. I love donuts with fillings, don’t get me wrong, but they aren’t something I jones for in the middle of the night. (I haven’t been pregnant yet, so that could change! Haha). I guess what I’m trying to say is – I already have the Cheesecake Matcha, how amazing could Bavarian Cream be?
The answer? Extremely amazing. Absolutely amazing. Exclaim it to the heavens! I got the delicate flavouring as usual (http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/bavarian-cream-matcha.html).
There’s something about this flavour that took me by surprise and wooed me. The smell is sweet and creamy, no mistaking it for “vanilla” or something generic, it’s quite a specific scent. The aroma is true to the taste, hallelujah! There’s almost a “thickness” to it, and certainly a richness, that is reminiscent of its namesake. Creamy creamy creamy! The smell and taste of biting into that perfect area of donut where all the cream is. I personally like to save that part for the last, if I’m lucky. ;)
Thankfully with this matcha, I get the best part all to myself!
My personal favourite way to enjoy this matcha is as a hot latte with a pinch of sugar, to make the flavour pop and enhance the cream (if it can get any creamier – my goodness!). That said, I also shook it up in a water bottle and took it to work as an iced tea and again it really surprised me! No sugar added + true Bavarian Cream flavour = a happy Ash-Lee servicing customers with a buzz! Thanks Red Leaf Tea!
Having this in my water bottle today!
I’m finding it’s drying out my mouth a tad, but it tastes good so I keep going back for more! I definitely needed the energy today.
Also, my boss is on vacation for 2 weeks so we’re allowed to have drinks at the desk until she comes back… >_> sshh. it’s a secret.
haha I’m such a rebel.
I believe I got Robust on this one, so the flavour is mayb e even too strong for me haha! Next time I would get delicate, but yes, it is very watermelon tasting!
Sooo for some reason I don’t have a rating on this tea when I know I have reviewed it a few times. Welp! Here’s my rating! haha
I used 1 tsp instead of my usual 2 tsps. It tastes soo much better when I’m light on the leaf – I just hope it works just as well!
The Lush hiring party went super swell, so here’s my story: I worked from 8:30-5, stayed at the mall until the hiring party at 6, took the bus home and got home at 7:30 – reached in my purse to find the keys to be.. well.. not there. So! I sat in tim horton’s for 3 hours, sipping an extra large steeped tea, thinking about how awesome my interview was and when Mike finally got home I was so wired!
Took a bath with my free Lush bubble bar, and now I’m sippin this magical tea, waiting for it to kick in because I am still so wired and happy. Come on tea, I work at 8:30 again tomorrow, help me out here!
I love this tea.
The end!
Aww, I’m so happy it went well! Yay you! Tea in the bath! When I get a tub, I’ll be doing this for sure! I will also live my dream of bathing in Jasmine tea. :D
Hope you find your keys!
So happy for you! Ugh I would love to spend all day surrounded by lush :D Fingers crossed; keep us updated!
tunes&tea, you’re awesome :) DaisyChubb, great to hear you had an awesome interview. I’ve got my fingers crossed. (But I have my fingers and toes crossed for the Davids Tea job!)
@softrevolution – my sister used to work at Lush. She got so much free stuff, it was ridiculous. Her room smelled like a Lush store (and probably still does). Headache central!
Haha I used to have a biiiiit of a lush obsession. I kept all my goodies wrapped up and in a big tupperware tub under my bed. Even through that my entire room (and, faintly, the entire apartment) smelled like lush goodness. My partner thought I was crazy, but i would just bask in the gloriousness. Ohhh how I miss it!
haha thank you everyone! I have the best tea friends in the whole world, obviously ;)
@Mercuryhime – I can’t wait until you get a tub! LIVE THE DREAM! :D
@tunes – that seriously made my day, maybe I could make a fringe theatre show about it? I’m at a loss for inspiration so that might be the one! :D
@soft – used to?! oh noes, not any more? it is a pricey obsession I must admit, so getting the job would definitely help with that haha ;)
@Miss – thank you! Yes I would more than happily take either (or both!) DT & Lush! ah!
@Heather – it was one I’ve never tried before, Blue Skies & Fluffy White Clouds! It was a nice change from my usual super sweet candy scents :3
I think you are in for a delight. I was pleasantly surprised by this one.
I just finished my cup – you’re so right, it was delightful !
What’s a NIB?
Okay, that first sentence means that I will have to order this as soon as possible!
CHAroma, Nibs are like chunks of cherry licorice candy. Absolutely delicious! http://www.hersheycanada.com/en/products/details/twizzlers/index.asp?name=nibs
Oh, like bite size Twizzlers…Well I don’t see why that wouldn’t be awesome! :)
