417 Tasting Notes
The rain finally let up in Napa, but it’s expected to return soon. I don’t mind since we really need it! Even though the weather was nice, Casey and I decided to continue our bad movies and good tea marathon tonight. We are drinking this tea and watching Curse of Chucky. Oh, yes.
Flavors: Chocolate, Malt, Orange Zest

Thank you greenteafairy for sending me a sample of this. I’ve been eyeing the Héritage Gourmand collection on Marriage Frères website for a while now because they look so good, but I’ve been hesitant to purchase these teas without trying them first because of the price. But this tea was incredible. The flavoring was wonderful and the texture was perfect- it is so, so smooth and, yes, almost custard-like. This is definitely going on my shopping list!
Flavors: Caramel, Vanilla
Preparation
Yum. This is pretty good. It’s a creamy, fruity, floral green tea. It is really difficult to pick out which fruits I am tasting. By the aroma, it seemed like a lychee/pineapple/citrus tea. There is also a hint of spice. I’ll probably add this to my order list. Thank you greenteafairy for giving me a chance to try this one!
Preparation
Why is this tea so good when I have no idea where to find it again? Oh well. This was my second small pot of this tea, and I’m sending the remaining to Tea Sipper tomorrow. I hope she enjoys it as much as I have!
Preparation
Thank you, Eva, for swapping with me and sending me some of this!
This is pretty darn good. It is absolutely true to the description that it tastes like the green apple and watermelon Jolly Ranchers. The base tea is a good match for the flavorings and the flavor level is perfect for me. The only reason why I don’t give this one a higher rating is because it’s no a flavor that I would crave often. This would be so nice iced in the summer, so maybe I will wind up ordering some!
Preparation
Casey and I are drinking a pot of this tonight. We are maybe two pots away from a sipdown.
This doesn’t taste as strongly flavored as last time, but I’ve been drinking a lot of flavored teas today. I’m also noticing some vanilla, which I wasn’t sure was present last time I brewed this. It’s also more astringent than I remember it being. I still plan on ordering some of this when I place my big Mariage Frères order in March, mostly because Casey really likes this, but otherwise I probably wouldn’t purchase again.
Flavors: Caramel, Chocolate, Malt, Tannin, Tobacco, Vanilla
Preparation
This is delicious. The flavor is true to the name. I think I would prefer it if it were slightly sweeter, maybe if there was a small amount on nutmeg sprinkled on the banana pudding, or maybe some caramel sauce. Pretty tasty, though. Thanks, Eva for giving me the opportunity to try this!
Flavors: Coconut, Cream
Preparation
Thank you, Eva, for giving me a chance to try this tea!
This is good, but there was too much spice and not enough creamy pumpkin cheesecake flavor for me. I was also hoping for more of a buttery caramel flavor. The other 52teas blends I tried have been so incredible, but this one just falls slightly short for me.
Flavors: Caramel, Cloves
Preparation
My first time trying 52teas. Thank you, Eva for sending me this sample!
OMG. This is so good and so close to the flavor and smell of an actual stack of pancakes. The flavor level is just right, and the aftertaste lasts just long enough. Now I’m really looking forward to receiving my 52teas order…
Flavors: Butter
Preparation
I’m pretty sure I messed up adding this. Most other teaware items have a different format, but I couldn’t find a place where anyone explained how to do this…
Anyhow, this is the best teapot I’ve owned. It’s the perfect size for two people to have two cups of tea each or four people to have one cup each. I love glass teapots in general. I think they’re beautiful and I enjoy seeing the color of the tea. But what really makes this teapot stand out is that there is so much space in the infuser for the leaf to expand. The infuser compared to the overall volume of the teapot is huge, and it’s also very easy to clean. The teapot itself is also easy to clean because it doesn’t have a traditional spout. The only thing I worry about are the rubbery components absorbing smells from flavored tea, but so far so good. Also, it comes it many colors, but I opted for a more neutral black.
