I picked this up on a whim since we were placing an order with upton for brew baskets anyway. Man are their baskets cheap at the moment! I mostly just wanted to see if this managed to taste even remotely close to della terra’s lemon blends.
Well folks? not even sort of. lol Talk about rooibos flavoured lemon lol. While i don’t mind the taste of rooibos 95% of the time, there are certain teas that just taste like rooibos….with a dash of other flavours. this is one of those teas. While not totally gross, it’s certainly nothing that is terribly appealing.
Such an amazing tea! Strong lemon aroma when I opened the pouch before brewing; brewed mine longer than the recommended eight minutes (about 15 minutes), and it was fantastic. Strong but not bitter lemon flavor, and as odd as this might sound, held up very well with milk and sugar, still being able to taste a LOT of lemon. This is really excellent.
Thanks for the sample, Sil, but yeah, this is definitely another nope from Upton. It actually smelled more lemon cleaner-y than it tasted, but… just not a profile I have interest in drinking. I can handle rooibos/honeybush if the flavours are yummy, but the flavour is not yummy here, and neither is the rooibos. I’m sure someone, somewhere might like this tea, but I’d much rather have Della Terra’s Lemon Chiffon, which was delightful.

Yesterday I drank “River Song”, an adagio fandom blend that is a mix of earl grey moonlight, coconut, & rooibos lemon cloud. I haven’t commented on it here, as I was busy actually working for once, LOL, but it wasn’t unpleasant, at least! Lemme know if either of you want a sample :)
Oh, & I should add, 2 out of 3 of those are black teas, so the rooibos is just a bystander, but the lemon was definitely on stage!
