From The Tea Girl

A sweet blend of mild bright Bancha from Kagoshima Prefecture, organic toasted rice, apple pieces, sunflowers and orange blossoms all flavoured brightly with pineapple and passion fruit flavours. The roasted notes from the roasted rice match the light toast flavour of the Bancha leaves while the fruit flavours sweeten the forward notes of the cup.

Blenders Notes: This blend is a new version of Pineapple Express, that uses pineapple and passion fruit to capture a sweet tropical theme paired with dry roasted notes from the popped rice. The light fruity flavours of the tea are best enjoyed on their own without any added sugar. Great on warm days for something refreshing.

Ingredients: green tea, roasted rice, apple pieces, pineapple pieces sunflowers, orange blossoms and flavours.

This is nice! The pineapple is definitely on the sweet/candied side vs. the tangy/fresh one. Apparently it has passion fruit, which I think I’m tasting as mango for some reason. It’s very mellow and subtly sweet, but the combo of the sweet candied pineapple with the toasted rice is giving it a sort of subdued pineapple cake vibe.

Speaking of which, I recently ordered a pineapple cake cashew butter as part of a trio from Rooted Fare and I’m so excited for all of them! :3

Sipdown (1601)!

I was inspired by TeaWithJann (on IG and Youtube) to place an order with The Tea Girl to reorder one of the teas I’ve tried and loved as well as pick up a handful of others to try. To my surprise and delight they included four single serving samples. Additionally, all of the teas seemed really well selected and picked out based on what I’d ordered – I definitely felt the intention behind choosing similar things!

I actually considered ordering this tea but was hesitant about the green tea, so I was very excited to see it included. I think the pineapple flavour here is just so lovely; it reminds me of the Pineapple Coconut Party which is the tea that I wanted to restock because I enjoyed it so much. Very sweet and juicy thick pineapple flavour that reminds me a little bit of a Pineapple Soda. People who’ve had Pineapple Crush will know what I mean. It’s offset by the grassier edge of the green tea and a slight toasty note from the rice. Kind of gives me the vibes of a gently grilled slice of pineapple.

Ultimately I think I am glad I didn’t order it because I think the green tea was a bit much for me. However, I enjoyed this cup of it and I’m really happy I got to try it out!

Sipdown (236)

P is for…Pineapple Express

Thank you for the sample, Sil!

This is basically a pineapple genmaicha based on the ingredients list. That’s accurate of the taste too. It’s got a lot more of the green tea base than I would like though. The rice comes through as a secondary thought and after the base comes through strongly and a touch bitter. The pineapple pops up in the aftertaste more than anything. I wish it was the reverse where the pineapple was the main flavour.

Free sample from the tea girl. I don’t drink a lot of green teas. I sometimes find a few that i enjoy but because i so rarely want a green tea, it’s not worth it for me to buy many. Especially since butiki is no more. Pineapple greens are my favourite. this tea smells amazing. Drinking it, the pineapple taste is less than the aroma but still present. the bancha is a little drying for me though.
