I received this sample from gracebtlb a while back and i’ve eben waiting to have some time to sit and enjoy it. I don’t have a lot of practice with gongfu style brewing but i welcome an opportunity to try and improve my skills. I’m finding pu-erh is the way that i can do this. I lined up a couple of my cups from China so that I could pour a few infusions to try them against one another a little better.
First off, the colour of this one brewed is a beautiful reddish hue. Sitting in the white porcelain of the cups made me smile just looking at it. I wasn’t very good at detecting the subtle nuances of each steep but over all, this is a VERY nice puerh (keep in mind i have very limited experience with puerh). There is a deep, rich flavour to this blend and while i don’t get the chocolate that mandala speaks of, i do get hints of the burnt caramel and what i would describe more as an earthier sort of taste.
Here’s hoping my vocabulary improves along with my skills at gongfu :) Thank you grace for sharing your tea with me! I really liked this one, and i’m looking forward to trying the other bit of it that i saved in case i screwed things up lol
Yay! I am so happy you liked it. If you liked this one, you’re going to love the Yong De I sent and the Special Dark that I am going to send. The chocolate is kind of Hershey Park in both of them :)
Neat! You know me, always up for trying new things and I for sure need more puerh experience :)
I’ve been into pu’er for years and years and I always need more pu’er experience, Sil!!!! Grace, thanks for sharing. I just did a 2 hour session with the Noble Mark cake that I had pressed last year and thought of you so it’s funny to have seen your reply just now!
Grace sent me a few of your teas for me to try before i get around to placing my own order. She was awesome enough to share some of her favourites with me. Shipping to canada is a pain, so i wanted to try a few before getting my tea mule to bring them across the border for me :)
Shipping to Canada is something we do alot of. If you decide to make an order, just be in touch with me at [email protected] and we can take care of your order together, figure out the freight price, pay via Paypal and package and ship to your groovy self. Not a problem. Matter of fact, I appreciate the opportunity to be of service.
Garret – i appreciate that! I do have a friend in the us who crosses the border every week so she often helps that way :)
Mostly i just need to get around to trying the last few samples that Grace sent me so that i can plan my july birthday order! :)
(Woo! July birthday orders!)
oh god. i’ll need to make sure i reign myself in… i’m already looking at butiki; verdant; mandala; american tea shop; tea spot…
