Rich Yunnan Black Tea blended with vanilla beans & vanilla flavored sugar crystals for a sublime vanilla experience! Nice!
This is a tea that I’ve been planning to blend for quite some time – I’m so happy that I finally was able to blend it now! I’ve always loved the Vanilla/Marshmallow blends crafted with an Assam base, however, I usually prefer Yunnan over Assam. I like both teas quite a bit, but if I were to choose one over the other, I would most likely choose a smooth Yunnan over a malty Assam most of the time.
So, I thought, if my various vanilla Assam teas are so amazing (& they are!) then: Why not Yunnan? Why not try using my lovely organic Yunnan tea that I utilize in my go-to black tea blend – which is (usually) a blend of Assam & Yunnan – why not use that Yunnan as the base for a Vanilla tea?
So NICE! The Yunnan provides a pleasantly smooth & medium-bodied base while the vanilla is sweet & adds such a lovely creamy note to the Yunnan. It starts with my tippy Yunnan Imperial & I add vanilla essence, vanilla beans as well as some vanilla crystals (made simply with organic cane sugar & organic vanilla extract) – this tea is not only delicious, it’s also organic, vegan, gluten-free, allergen-friendly & all natural! I love this!
organic ingredients: black tea, vanilla crystals (cane sugar & vanilla extract), vanilla beans, blue cornflower petals & natural flavors
to brew: shake pouch well to ensure all ingredients are well-incorporated. Use 3g of tea to 12oz of nearly boiling water (205°F) & steep for 3 minutes. Strain & allow to cool for at least 10 minutes.
serving suggestion: This is a delicious hot tea that also tastes great served over ice. No need for sweetener, this is quite pleasant unsweetened, but if you want something sweeter, a litter sugar can’t hurt! It’s also quite nice with a drizzle of honey.
I taste tested this with steep times of 3 minutes, 3 ½ minutes as well as 4 minutes. I found that the longer I steeped it, the more astringency I experienced from the cup. I find that the 3 minute steep time produced a nicely flavored cup while still remaining smooth.
