768 Tasting Notes
I had a sample of this tea that I’d forgotten about. I used the entire little pouch. I was a little dubious about the bright pink color since for some unknown reason I associate that color with hibiscus (I really don’t like the sourness of hibiscus.) I sipped cautiously. Hm, I thought, not a lot of flavor. Sipped some more. Not bitter or sour. Drank again. Not bad. By the end of the cup I decided it was pleasant. I won’t go and order 50 grams of it, but if I had another little sample I would drink it.
Preparation
I got a hold of this one at last. So many people love it that I was sure I would too. But I don’t. It didn’t actually taste like anything. but the after taste was a bit weird. Soapy. It was a new cup that I had just hand washed. Maybe I didn’t rinse the cup well enough. I’m going to try it again this weekend. So I’m not going to give this a rating right now.
Preparation
Aww, you can’t like everything, but I hope it’ll be better next time for you. FWIW, I find this one needs more leaf than average and a generous shot of milk.
I had a teeeeeeeensy bit of this tea left. I remember drinking it when I could smell and LOVING its smooth, creamy flavor. I’ve been sick since Sunday and I decided I deserved to have the tea tonight. This time it was blah, with a hit of astringency at the end of the sip. :( :( :(
I don’t want to whine about being sick. It seems I always get sick right around this time of the year. It usually turns into bronchitis, sino-bronchitis, or even pneumonia. So I am going to baby myself. I worked a few hours today, but tomorrow if I feel even a little sick when I get up I’m calling in. There is no reason to push myself and make it worse.
(see? That wasn’t whining. That was me being an adult.)
Ugh. Woke up this morning with a completely clogged nose, a sore throat and a headache. Man, I wish it was a cold. If it was a cold I could look forward to recovering from it. I’m pretty sure it is a sinus infection. I’m glad I have this tea. It’s not a cure, but it does feel nice. And it goes pretty well with the olive bread I made.
This is a great tea! I give it a 100 rating. When I drink this tea I remember my good friends up over the border in Winnipeg and Brandon. The first time I ever had this tea was about 5 years ago. I was up in Winnipeg to visit and on Sunday afternoon, just before heading back to the states, we went to Polo Park. There is a DAVIDs tea in that mall (I am soooo envious, as we don’t have anything like a tea shop in Fargo.) I bought 10 grams of this and 25 grams of that, and ended up spending almost $50.00 on tea! A lot of my non tea drinking friends would be utterly unable to comprehend how someone could buy that much tea, but I know I’m among my peers here. Cranberry Pear was one of those teas, and it has remained a favorite ever since. I think I’ve said before that my extremely high rating is due more to the memories associated with this tea than the actual flavor, but the flavor is darned good too.
I brewed this one up to enjoy while writing tonight. It was quite good. I’m getting down the bottom of the bag. I still have a few pots worth, but I can see the end coming. :(
I like this tea because it is spicy without being overpowering. Of course, I enjoyed it even more back when I had a my sense of smell. But even without being able to taste much, I find this tea to be smooth and the spices warm.
I’m getting to the end of this. It’s not one that I will re-stock, but it’s been a nice evening drink. The color is very pale, practically clear. The taste is similarly mild. I added two tiny lumps of sugar and that made it even nicer.
I’m getting out of the habit of drinking tea, which is ridiculous. The problem of buying a 12 pack of Coke is that I tend to drink that instead of tea. Grrr. Tea is much better for me and even with a couple of sugar lumps it has far less calories. Tonight is Writing Night. (It should be cleaning night, but I don’t wanna). So I’ll brew a pot of tea. Which kinds? Hmmm. Must consider…
I really do like this tea. So mellow and smooth. Today wasn’t a bad day at work really, just long. I tried to punch in at 6:45am but the system for telecommuters was down. It came up around 8:15. While I was waiting for it to come up I brewed a pot of this tea and knitted while sitting at the computer, staring at the blank screen. I worked until 6:30 (overtime sucks until you get the paycheck) and now am thinking of going to bed early. If work 10 hours tomorrow I can have my required 7 hours of overtime in by 1pm on Friday. Then a nice lazy weekend.
If the system is down do you still get paid from when you tried to start working? Or do your hours just get pushed back?
We get paid for the time the system is up. If we were in the office we would still get paid because there would be other things we could do like filing or going through manuals to mark sections that need updating. When we work from home we can’t do anything without the computer so we don’t get paid. Part of me is grumpy about that, but I suppose it’s fair, since I sat and knitted.
Totally empathize with the OT sentiment. Working on what will be a 55 hour week myself. Hate the doing it but the check will be nice.
I wasn’t planning on buying any tea for a while, but I saw this one marked down to $0.79. It was the Holly Jolly holiday version, but even so, seventy-nine cents??? I mean, how could I pass it up? Besides, I’ve been wanting a ginger tea for my tummy which seems to be frequently unhappy.
My first surprise was that the steeping time was 10 to 15 minutes. That seemed terribly long to me. I let it steep 11 minutes, which seemed to be about right. I can’t smell it, and I don’t get a lot of flavor, really, but I could feel the burn of the ginger. I don’t think I’ll drink this one for pure enjoyment, but it will be nice to have for those evenings when I’ve over eaten.
Preparation
I’ve been drinking this one pretty steadily in the evenings. It’s a good choice for the end of the day. It’s affordable, convenient, easy to find in the grocery store, and it’s pretty tasty. I got back from supper with friends early enough to finally tidy the kitchen. I have a ton of other cleaning to get done, but somehow, just being able to see the kitchen counters helps me relax. Since I was almost uncomfortably full from supper (and a pitcher of margaritas—which I shared with 2 other gals!) I decided to sit with this tea while I knitted a couple of rows. It’s a good way to end a stressful day.
