768 Tasting Notes
It’s back to being cold. Well, I guess it never stopped. But the weather called for the type of tea that warms you up. So I went looking for a chai. Found this one. It was good. It’s a decent tea, but it lacks a ‘wow’ factor. It was a Christmas gift, so I better drink it up. As I said, nothing wrong with it.
I’m digging way back in the cupboard for tea lately. This was one of my first ‘real’ teas. I still remember having a sample at David’s Tea at Polo Park in Winnipeg. I bought a lot of tea that day, including this one. Although this tin is not the one I bought that day. This is a 100 gram tin I bought a while back when I heard Cranberry Pear was being discontinued. I wish they would bring this one back. Or maybe not. They could re-blend it and add stevia. :( :( :(
I brewed up a pot last night to have something warm and comforting to drink after a horrible day at work. Today was slightly better. Very slightly. So I think I’m going to take a hot bubble bath, then slather on on powder and lotion, brew a pot of something I haven’t had recently, and read a book.I spent about 30 minutes digging the car out this morning. Not because I’m planning to go anywhere. And really, what is the point, since we’re expecting another blizzard tomorrow. This will be a ground blizzard, which is what you get when the wind is 50 mph and there is loose snow on the ground. Thanks to the snow fall Friday, we have lots of light fluffy snow to blow around. I’m wintered out. After the ground blizzard on Sunday the high on Monday and Tuesday will be below zero. Really, I’m all done with winter.
One nice thing is coming in, taking off all my cold weather gear and brewing a cup of a tea that I know won’t disappoint. Cheers.
A long day of overtime at the day job followed by some writing. I ate too much for supper (seems to be an ongoing problem for me) so I wanted something with mint for my tummy. But I was really tired, so I thought something with caffeine would be good. I dug through my tea drawer and found this one. Wow. I never drink this. It’s a shame. I like this one. I still have about 50 grams of this left of the 100 gram tin. I have GOT to start drinking up my tea hoard!!
I had this one this afternoon on my break. I’ve decided I have HAVE to stop eating whatever and whenever I want. My blood glucose isn’t awful, but it was 132 this morning, about 15-20 higher than normal. So that means I get to drink more tea!
This one is okay. Nothing to really write home about. Not bad. It’s not sour or astringent or bitter. It’s not great. Neither the chocolate nor strawberry comes out, and the smoke is very light. I think I’ll have a favorite later tonight to make up for it.
I haven’t left a tasting note on this one yet???
I’ve been enjoying this one for a couple of months. It is the perfect cup for these cold dreary nights of deep winter. It has been 41 days since we were at freezing or above, and we certainly won’t be seeing 32 until at least March. In fact, the highest temp since January 7 was 19 about a week ago.
This is like summer in a cup. Bright and naturally sweet, it gives me a much needed lift. Even my weak nose can smell the sweet tang of blackberries in this tea. You know what a ripe juicy blackberry tastes like. That is what the tea tastes like. I love just about all the honeybush teas from 52Teas, and this one is the same. I don’t care as well for rooibos and I can taste the woodiness of it here, but it doesn’t ruin the cup for me. Raspberries and blackberries are my favorite fruits anytime of the year. I buy them every week even in the dead of winter. But berries in February don’t taste as good as berries in July. This tea reminds me summer is coming.
I have been having an absolutely horrible time lately. Between the cold and the snow and the car not starting, my mood is beyond glum. I long to go to bed for a week. I am coming out of it slightly now. The fact that it was 20 degrees today and the snow was the light fluffy kind with no wind probably helped.
Anyway, my new co-worker is apparently a tea aficionado. She came in this morning and began setting up her desk. One of the things she brought was a small wooden box with tea bags. She told me she drinks loose leaf tea at home, but for the office she uses bagged tea for convenience. A woman after my own heart! She had a couple of varieties of black teas and offered me one of these. I like Prince of Wales. Nothing fancy or expensive, but a straight black tea of decent quality is always welcome. I told her about Steepster and we might see a new member soon.
More bad weather coming in. I think I’m actually getting depressed. I just don’t want to deal with it. Ugh. Thank God I can work from home tomorrow, so that’s a good thing.
My throat is slightly sore today. Tea really is the perfect thing to drink. Sore throat? Have some tea. Bone deep cold? Have some tea. Sitting and knitting? Have some tea. I feel bad for the people who don’t know the joys of tea.
