What do you want to know about David's Tea?
Networks are a wonderful thing. A friend just introduced me to Jevin Eagle, the CEO of David’s Tea, and I’m in the process of setting up a meeting with him. Is there anything you’d like to know about David’s in particular or the tea business in general? I’d be happy to include your queries in my discussion with him.
No questions (at the moment) but if you could get them to carry more high quality unflavoured teas, that would be good. Especially blacks!
Funny you should mention that. I’m not wild about their flavored offerings either and I’d like to see more blacks and greens added to their menu. I was going to see if I could find a delicate way to raise that issue with him. I’ll keep you posted.
second this…and ditch the sugar/sweetners in the teas. i’m so tired of having to drink stevia. blech
Yeah, I doubt they’ll be focusing on straight teas anytime soon – that doesn’t appeal to the masses. Seconded on the removal of stevia though, for sure.
I would like to see more unflavoreds as well :( But if thats not their thing, there’s plenty of other sources I suppose.
The thing is, I’ve seen them go on a couple sprees of adding unflavoured teas to the collection over the years, including an e-mail I got recently about two new straight teas. I think they will always be mostly flavoured but as long as they pay attention to the quality of their unflavoured offerings as well and keep that current and fresh they will be in a good place. A lot of their clientele eventually moves toward unflavoured teas and yes we can find them elsewhere but they obviously get more money when people continue to buy things, so offering both should work out for them.
Also, yes. PLEASE mention that we don’t want stevia in the blends. Gah.
After 4+ years of tea drinking, specifically davids tea drinking, I still shop there for a few blends, teaware, and the odd straight black because they are convenient for me. I generally dislike online shopping and try to limit it. If I can stock up on a trip to the store, I’m happy. I know it’s rare, but I’m sure I’m not the only one. :)
Are the tea-infused chocolate bars ever coming back?
I believe they are back in most stores… I’ve seen Maple Sugar, Matcha, Pumpkin Chai, and Cream of Earl Grey lately. No sign of Salted Caramel, which is the one I’m looking for :(
I’d like to be able to purchase samples online. Also, I second the motion to have more unflavored teas.
My question would be how they decide which teas are coming back each season, and what they taste testing process is. I have found the last few seasonal collections fairly underwhelming, and often wonder why certain teas which were hugely popular did not make a return. Also why the increased emphasis on herbals in the seasonal collections?
Tell him he needs to carry more Puerh and especially Puerh cakes. If a major retailer like David’s Tea sold puerh cakes it would help bring puerh into the mainstream. Most people have never heard of puerh where I work or at least the ones who don’t know me have never heard of puerh.
I would actually love it if they had a larger selection of flavored/dessert puers as well — sprinkles and all! (I guess I didn’t get to consume enough things with sprinkles as a child, so I’m making up for it now. :))
Cakes aren’t really practical for them but they do have two unflavored puerh, a raw and a cooked. They aren’t the best teas you’ll ever have but they are decent.
I love many of the funky flavors, but I wonder why they opt to use artificial colors (and sweeteners) in their teas. I really wish they would let go of needing the tea to look fun in the package, vs. “just” tasting amazing. No red dyes, no blue dyes, no sprinkles….same for Lush. So many things I’d buy if they’d cool it with the dyes and other questionable ingredients. Still….I’m a total David’s Tea addict.
