I’m one of three Leafs fans in a massive extended family of Canadiens fans. I haven’t actively watched hockey since the season that didn’t happen (like 10 years ago? I dunno, a long time). I did watch olympic hockey though and was thrilled to be Canadian, yet again. :)
I was very touched today to hear that at the Penguins game last night O Canada was played despite no Canadian team on the ice. With all the news reports, images and stories I’ve seen since yesterday, that was the one that made me teary eyed. I’m nuts, but the anthem makes me cry all the time. I’m sad that terrible things happen in our (or any) country but it’s wonderful to see the support, especially from the US.
I agree – I thought it was a nice show of support. I also agree with the NHL decision to postpone the Toronto at Ottawa game last night. Solidarity through sport is never a bad thing….
You haven’t happened to have read the children’s book ‘The Hockey Sweater’ have you? ;)
More times than I can count! I’m fairly convinced I on ly started rooting for Toronto to rebel a bit. Made hockey night much more interesting! I have big love for the Canadian teams though, especially the Canucks.
My home team are the Vancouver Canucks and it’s always been a bit of a love/hate relationship especially since their Stanley cup run in 2011. *hisses at Boston * ;)
CANNOT believe that the Wild scored 7 times tonight! Wow!
