Butiki Teas: Mystery Teas Revealed!!! Herbs & Spices?
I’m sorry to say that we are officially out of Hello Sweetie. Goodbye, Sweetie. :( Also on the list is Purple Sunset Oolong and Decaf Korakundah.
Coffee & Cigarettes is a go! We decreased the lapsang to 25%. Slightly decreased the Irish Cream flavor. Excited for this one. Tomorrow, I will report back with the trials from our first batch of samples.
^Awesome, glad you are on board! :)
Also, I’m super excited to try those recommendations from everyone and see how they went.
As promised, here is the update on the suggestions. This is by far the best outcome for a tasting. Usually, I only like one or two flavors I try. Most flavors will be very small batches, since we are running low on flavors.
YES
pumpkin pecan cheesecake-kenya obsidian-Spot on flavors. Pumpkin, pecan and creamy. This one is perfect as is! Sort of reminds me of our Pumpkin Creme Brulee.
strawberrry rhubarb cheesecake-puerh. Perfect. All three flavors are perfect. Do not add hibiscus.
bergamot/tangerine/grapefruit-obsidian-This one has real potential. All three flavors can be detected. It’s not just like an unidentifiable citrus medley. Need to up the tangerine and decrease the bergamot.
blueberry champagne-puerh-I love the combination of blueberry and this puerh. It’s an earthy, natural blueberry taste. Not tart. Can taste the champagne, not a huge impact but I wouldn’t increase it because the blueberry needs to be the star.
espresso cantaloupe-giddapahar-This is surprisingly awesome. Cantaloupe is the dominant flavor but there is a dark contrast with the espresso. The Cantaloupe puerh is awesome but this is just a little bit better and more interesting.
strawberry coconut praline-Glenburn SN, puerh-the puerh is gross. The Glenburn Silver Needles are awesome. This is just wow. It’s like a creamy tropical cookie. Need to up the strawberry a tiny bit. The praline balances out the sweetness coming from the strawberry and coconut.
praline-crimson horizon –I thought this would be too simple with just one ingredient but I am absolutely in love with this one. Nutty praline, sweetness, malty, just perfect!
brandy apple pecan-OB-This is interesting. It’s like boozy apple juice with some honey notes. I’m digging this one a bit. We can up the pecan a touch.
banana walnut- baked ali shan-Very tasty. Banana, bakey, and floral. Light. Going to try with some butterscotch just to see.
Mint Cheesecake puerh-What? This is so interesting and tasty! I think this one might be my favorite. The name should be Grasshopper Cheesecake. It’s so good. The cream and mint just work with the puerh so well.
Favorites of the batch-Espresso Cantaloupe, Mint Cheesecake, and Praline Crimson.
NO
X cantaloupe champagne-puerh-Really Great flavor. I love how the cantaloupe & puerh go together. The champagne tastes like bubblegum, so we would have to remove that and just have a cantaloupe puerh. This is so good but the espresso cantaloupe edges this out. Maybe do a small batch down the road.
X bergamot cheesecake-obsidian-It’s tasty but just not exciting. Too boring for us.
Mint Cheesecake sounds really interesting. I think mint and puerh go together well… and with cheesecake creaminess? Oh my. Any chance you’ll let us try some of these soon?
Exidy-I’m loving the mint cheesecake puerh. Really great idea. I feel a little guilty flavoring a good puerh from 1989 but we just have so much of it. Well, we are going to be pushing these out as quick as possible. I would really like to start closing up shop at the end of the month, so maybe this weekend or beginning of next week we will have the majority of these available. We still have more customer suggestions to test out too.
The cheesecake ones all sound amazing. I’m going to have to get the cantaloupe espresso just because I can’t imagine how that combination plays out. It doesn’t sound like it should work at all!
strawberry rhubarb cheesecake-puerh sounds fun! I am glad you did not add hibiscus :P
And Espresso Cantaloupe. Good morning melon? Yes.
When you say there will only be very small batches of these, what are we talking? Mainly referring to the Cantaloupe Espresso and Banana Walnut.
Kaylee-Such great ideas. I’m not sure how many cheesecakes we can do because of the limited amount of flavoring but they were all so tasty. The cantaloupe and espresso just work for some odd reason.
TheLastDodo-Hahaha, yeah hibiscus can work in some situations but just not this one. I love the name Good Morning Melon! Great idea. I’m deciding between that and Dark Side of the Melon.
Zack S-Those will probably be a little more since we do have a lot of Cantaloupe left and the banana will only go to this one tea. Either way, nothing will last super long since I’d really like to close up shop or get close to closing by the end of this month.
A little heads up, we will be offering the rest of our teawares at 40% off original pricing starting tomorrow! Most of our stocks are pretty low.
Out
Khongea Encore Assam
Dinjoye Estate Assam
:( There is still Lattakoojan left and a few blended and flavored black teas with Assam but we are very close to being completely out of any Assam teas.
All Teawares are now 40% Off! We have very limited supplies of about half of the teawares available. Check it out: http://www.butikiteas.com/Teawares.html
I have some questions about the tea jars. What are the dimensions for the one that isn’t hand-painted? Do any of them have a seal to make them airtight?
adagio breeze-The Chinese Jar is about 12cm tall but only 10cm height of useable space. It’s about 9cm wide. I would estimate that you can fit about 1-2 ounces of tea depending on the type of tea but that can vary quite a bit.
The hand-painted jars do come with a plasticy rubbery ring for a tight fit but the Chinese jars do not.
These are the new teas that are scheduled to come out first. I was hoping for tomorrow but Tuesday is more realistic.

Shop Smart, Shop S-mart
Very exciting! Hope my replacement credit card comes in time :D
Hahaha. Speaking of which, have you seen these: http://www.lastexittonowhere.com/shop/product/s-mart-navy-regular-fit/. I love that store. I have a Hal 9000 shirt and an Outpost 31 shirt.
Yay, glad it’s exciting! :)
Strawberry Coconut Praline = Mardi Gras. Strawberries and pralines are quintessential New Orleans foods, coconuts are a prized throw at the Zulu parade, AND Mardi Gras is coming up on February 17. How about Mardi Gras Muse? I’m biased though – Muses is my favorite parade.
I get the Boomstick reference, but not the connection to the flavors. Does Ash like citrusy stuff or something?
Canal Street Carnival sounds like a great name to me! So looking forward to these new flavors!
Nichole-Awesome! :)
Kaylee-Love your Mardi Gras ideas! I think Canal Street Canrival it is!
adagio breeze-My husband said the same thing. He doesn’t think the name works. For me, I was coming up with descriptors for how citrus feels. I was like pow, bursting, juicy, and boom. Then boom led me to boomstick. I’m sure this doesn’t make sense to most people.
Lariel-One is our Glenburn Silver Needles and the other is our 1989 Suncha Blend puerh.
TheLastDodo-Thanks! :)
Kaylee-Awesome! Happy Birthday! If you decide to order, let me know and I’ll throw in a half ounce of Canal Street Carnival for your birthday. :)
Thank you! I’m definitely ordering – it’s less “decision” and more “compulsion” at this point. Between the imminent closing and the exciting new flavors, I am having some serious self-control issues.
Kaylee-You’re welcome! :) Hahaha, well I’m glad the new flavors are exciting! I’m really enjoying them and had a lot of fun working with your guys suggestions.
Coffee and Cigarettes sounds amazing. I don’t smoke, but I like what lapsang souchong does for a tea blend. So that’s available tomorrow?
