Teeny Tiny Kettle
Does anyone have a suggestion for a tiny electric tea kettle? It doesn’t have to be temperature control or fancy. I mainly want it for my bedroom for those days I feel too icky to go all the way downstairs to my Tea Lair.
I currently have http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0086UJQN8/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3H6R93KPF92CG&coliid=I2YFHLYQV1XNBA&psc=1 on my wishlist, but I am open to suggestions :)
I actually have that kettle for the same exact reason :) It’s not bad. Temp controls only work all the way down (good for green) and all the way up for black/herbals, but overall I think it’s a decent kettle.
Good to know! I can do the old letting the water cool down trick for the medium temperature teas (since knowing me I will lounge in bed sipping oolongs)
I don’t own this, but this is the smallest electric kettle I’ve seen.

Don’t think it has temp controls, but it’s a wee little thing!
This is in my Amazon cart… haven’t bought it yet, tho.

I just got that one today. It seems to heat up just fine and the auto shut off works. The outside does get hot though. I like that there is no heating element in the kettle part itself. No temp control but for something to keep at work, I think it will be just fine.
This is not an electric kettle, but for small spaces and auto-shutoff feature, this might do the trick. It’s a Hot Shot hot water dispenser, 16 oz., with a nice ceramic bowl included.
I used one of those for years. It worked great. Never checked but I would guess the water temp is around 195 F pouring into your cup. I used it for all types of teas.
Be careful which Hot Shot you get. I don’t think a mug will fit under the one with the bowl. I think it is shorter than the other one.
I have this one, which I like a lot and use for travel:

I take that back. The bodum kettle I bought stopped working. Further Bodum would not honor the warranty since it was purchased in Amazon. Terrible.
OK, so Bodum would not honor the warranty through Amazon, but Amazon agreed to give me a refund. DavidsTea is a certified retailer of Bodum products, and their price is good, so it might be ok to buy from them. I loved the kettle while it was working, I’m just mad at Bodum. But I might go ahead and buy a new one from David’s. The alternatives all seem to have flaws that are perhaps worse than the Bodum, according to my read of the reviews on Amazon.

Just purchased a new Bodum kettle from David’s Tea. This one is also faulty. It boils way too long before shutting off. There’s definitely a problem with these units.
That’s frustrating about the Bodum kettle. Sounds like you had good experiences with it before it stopped working. From what we see in reviews for travel size kettles, this one looks like it would be one of the more sturdy and reliable dual voltage kettles, we like the stainless steel construction, concealed heating element and boil-dry protection. Albeit the weight may not be compatible with your packing and travel preferences. Good luck and safe travels!
