China Shipping

I am having a problem with China Shipping and I am wondering if anyone else has ever had the same problem I bought a Puerh Tea Cake from an EBay seller named Western Yunnan Tea/Zhang Yunhai. I bought it six days ago and the seller marked it shipped the next day. However I still have no tracking number. By this I do not mean not showing up on tracking but no number input into Ebay.

The seller claims he sends his packages to Shanghai for shipment and he doesn’t yet have the tracking number. Aren’t tracking numbers generated when shipped? He does not claim to have shipped without tracking just to not yet have the number.

I think he has not shipped the item. He is based in Kunming and I know they have postal service there. I have bought from others based in Kunming, notably Yunnan Sourcing. Do other people also think he is lying? Perhaps he was out of stock and waiting to get it in stock?

This seller has 100% feedback with over 1500 transactions. Give this seller the benefit of the doubt and contact in a month if you don’t have your item by then. Having said that, the only cake I wouldn’t buy from him is the one called “Empty Yourself.”

Uhm, epacket is apparently really new to Kunming, and is probably still more expensive from there than other centres, so some sellers, ship their goods to other major centres and in some cases in other countries ( is Singapore) to get either faster and/or cheaper service. For some packages I have been given one number for the first part of the journey and then a second for the other, but if he is using a shipping agent he may be using alternative transportation. One of my favourite sellers used to do this and it was why he was able to offer free shipping as epacket was a lot cheaper than other small packet cheaper shipping options. In all probability he is trying to do what is best for him and his business and you will get a proper tracking number when it is on its way to you. As a caveat for very small purchases some sellers on aliexpress at least will use services that don’t have tracking numbers but this is usually noted somewhere on the home page of the store or in the product description.

I eventually got what is either an SAL tracking number or arimail, not sure which. It doesn’t yet track on www.usps.com some two or three days later. Basically, this guy uses the old shipping method from China. I will stick with companies like Berylleb unless I see something on his site I just have to have. Berylleb King Tea is the best tea store on EBay.

Berylleb is generally pretty good. I have always had good luck with them.

If Dayi and Xiaguan is mainly what you plan to buy.

And Haiwan. But they are reputable with no questionable sales , at least to me. Always the real deal.

Your right that it does take some time for it to show on tracking. It’s your prerogative to stick with shipping styles and companies you feel comfortable dealing with. I haven’t dealt with this dealer so I really have no opinion. However if you choose to deal only with companies that deal with epacket you ate probably going to only be able to deal with companies in larger centres. Kunming for example has only had access to this service recently and I think it is only available for small packet services. Otherwise you are stuck with ems which can be expensive or other courrier services which can be significantly more expensive than regular China Post. I’m willing to wait. I’ve only ever only had one parcel go missing and the seller resent it immediately. China Post has been slower lately, the chatter I’ve read is that it is because they are improving over site and inspection processes with regards to dangerous goods. Hope you receive your parcel with out further incident. I usually use this programming for tracking. It usually gives me more information than my national service.
