Empty Tin...Tea Suggestions?
I am relatively new to loose tea use and am primarily a consumer of black tea from Teavivre with my cupboard currently containing:
Yun Nan Dian Hong Black Tea – Golden Tip
Superfine Tan Yang Gong Fu Black Tea
Fengqing Dragon Pearl Black Tea
Golden Monkey Black Tea
Suggestions on what to fill my empty tin with?
Thanks in advance.
I tried all those 4 black teas from Teavivre.
I´d go for Superfine Tan Yang Gong Fu Black Tea. It is a very smooth, when brewed multiple times it becomes increasingly sweet and it is a pretty looking tea (very tiny and delicate leaves that become larger once brewed).
I like Yun Nan Dian Hong as well. It is not quite as smooth and delicate as Tan Yang, but still good.
Personally I wouldn’t buy the Fengqing Dragon Pearl tea. It is a very pretty and fun tea, but the flavor is that of a simple and basic black tea.
Consider an order from www.discoverteas.com. They are an excellent tea shop in Virginia. I just received an order from them today. It has one I very much recommend, Chocolate Covered Strawberry. It is a mix of green and black tea with dark chocolate oil and strawberry flavoring, quite good.
You have some really good blacks from Teavivre. If you’re gonna stick with Teavivre, I would get some Bailin Gongfu Black which is DELICIOUS and is currently on sale.
If you’re looking to branch out to other companies, the possibilities are endless:
Whispering Pines:
Golden Orchid
Jabberwocky
Cocoa Amore
Fujian Black
Mandala:
Special Dark (if you are looking to try an accessible shou pu’er)
Black Beauty!
Verdant:
Zhu Rong
Laoshan Black
Laoshan Black Chocolate Genmaicha
Yu Lu Yan Cha Black
Yezi Tea:
Yi Fu Chun
Joseph Wesley:
Bai Lin Congfu
Classic Chinese
Zhi:
Gong Fu Black
There are many more, and these are MOSTLY unflavored black teas like you already have though some have some natural flavoring additions.
I can second all the Verdant blacks. And I’m definitely saving this list for future reference :)
Whispering Pines order going in. How can anyone resist a name like “Wee Snaily Yums”? :)
