Best Jasmine Pearls tea you've tasted?
Hello! I’m looking to get a good stock of great tasting Jasmine Pearls, but from reading so many reviews, there’s so many out there! Hopefully this discussion will help me (and others) navigate. Though I’d ideally like to find just one go-to source for future Jasmine Pearl purchases, I’m definitely up for exploring different online shops to compare!
So,
(1) Where have you gotten your favorite Jasmine Pearls from?
(2) Do any of you have a special/splurge Jasmine Pearl that’s separate from the more wallet-conscious ones you enjoy every day? What are they?
Teavivre’s Jasmine Pearls (the regular premium, not superfine) seems to get consistently great reviews and I’m tempted to try em, since their 3year anniversary sale for greens/whites is starting in a couple of days!
I’ve actually been recently looking for some good quality jasmine pearls myself, and I’m currently planning to get some from Teavivre during the sale :) Guess we’ll try them together if you do decide to purchase! I’ve only really had the jasmine pearls from Teavana (because it was on sale and I was curious) and I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn’t bitter and was rather sweet and smooth, not to mention relaxing. I can only just imagine how good Teavivre’s is gonna be :)
I’ve tried Teavivre’s Peach Jasmine ones, and they were a little too chemically for me, but their regular ones are ranked high overall, so I may be in the minority on that.
Though the highest ranked Jasmine Pearls on Steepster are by T2 (Buddha’s Tears) which I really didn’t like.
I once had a jasmine tea from a local store that reminded me of detergent. I sent it back because I didn´t trust it. But some time later when I was just going for a walk, I smelled jasmine flowers, similar to the `chemical detergent` jasmine tea that I had sent back. Now I changed my mind and think that there might have been nothing wrong with the tea, but it is just a way some jasmine teas tend to taste.
I don’t like green tea but love Black Jasmine Pearls. So far I’ve only had regular access to Davids and like those but they are very expensive and only worth it on sale.
They’re on sale now for 40% off on the DavidsTeas website!
The only choice is the half pound (8.8oz) for $43.50. A great price, but it’d be too much of a risk since I’ve never tried them before. Wish I could buy them loose in an actual store!
David’s Tea is actually the only place I’ve seen to offer Jasmine Black Pearls. I think they’re exclusive to Davids.
You could get them loose in-store, but it would be full price. They’re soo big!
Teavivre’s are very good. The peach are more artificial but the straight jasmine ones are great.
Glad to know it wasn’t just me. I’ll have to give their pure jasmine ones a go.
I think my issue was that the peach tasted like those candied “peach-o” gummies.
I think the main problem was that it smelled so great when I opened the packet, and then none of that flavor was really there.
Good to know! I was thinking of getting the Peach Jasmine Pearls along with my other planned purchase but I think I’ll hold off for now. Or find a way to get a sample.
The Imperial Organic Jasmine Dragon Pearls from JK Tea Shop are my personal favorite. They’ll run you about $15.50 for 100g I believe.
Thanks, I’ve checked them out and the have the Premium and the Imperial. One is 1bud+2leaves and the other is 1bud+1leaf. I kinda wanna try both since the description on both pages are practically the same.
I haven’t tried Teavivre’s yet, but I love the pearls from Zentealife.com. I think those are the only ones I’ve tried from a company still around. But they are good!
I’ve tried Jasmine Pearls from Yezi and Rishi, and found them both to be good. I’m not really a floral tea person, though. :P
You’ve reminded me that a shop near house actually sells loose Jasmine Pearls by Rishi!
The thing is that they keep all their teas in glass jars and customers just kind of have a go at it and fill their own bag and write their own amount (it’s quite the honor system). Makes me wonder if too much handling with metal scoops from customers and glass jar storage would affect it at all.
Cool thing is that I can buy just an ounce of it to try though!
I will also buy Teavivre’s Jasmine Pearls during their sale, I’m choosing between premium (30% off, 2013 harvest) and superfine (20% off, 2014 harvest). Can anyone comment on the quality difference between the two varieties? Especially considering the premium pearls are from last year’s harvest, could they still be of high quality?
I’ve only had the superfine, not the premium, and not this years harvest. Sorry! They were great though :)
Generally I find that green teas tend to go off quickly, so I’d personally go for the 2014; just to be cautious.
It’s strange that just yesterday I could have sworn I saw Teavivre’s Premium Jasmine Pearls to be part of the 40% listing, but now today they’re part of the 30% sale.
I like Harney & Sons. Teavivre is very good too and much cheaper. I’m not Jasmine tea person so it says a lot
Wow, definitely something to consider if you enjoy H&S more. You’re also very lucky to live nearby an actual H&S store. I’ve only seen H&S tins sold around various shops!
Harney & Sons is my favorite… and I’ve tried a ton of Jasmine pearls.
Good to know a lot of people enjoy H&S. I’ve definitely underestimated their brand and teas. I got the Paris black tea and it’s now one of my favorites from H&S. It’s like a decadent spin on Earl Grey. I’ve even made it as hot and iced lattes before. Amazing.
Definitely have a few favorites from Harney. I really like their Titanic blend. It’s one of my favorite black teas.
Oh and it’s under Dragon Pearl Jasmine: https://www.harney.com/dragon-pearl-jasmine-1.html
