DIY teapot rope?
After having my teapot lids fall off way too many times while pouring tea, I’m looking into these lanyard things:
I’d rather make one than buy one because A) I would be much cheaper B) I won’t have to wait for the mail C) I can make ALLL the colors!
It looks pretty doable. Anyone have any ideas? I’ve been looking up different types of knots/stitches and the Cobra stitch seems to be the closest match. I don’t have any nylon, but I guessed my acrylic yarn would be the most water resistant thing I have. Hopefully it doesn’t melt.
So yeah, has anyone made these by hand before?
there was a thread here on steepster last year? a while back on making these… you might be able to find it.
I couldn’t find anything :( Maybe they were calling it something else.
Use crochet cotton thread, can be found in many colors. Usually thrift stores have lots. Either crochet the rope or tie three bolls onto a chair and braid them together. Friendship bracelet patterns might be great for ideas.
ok…i couldn’t find it here, but i did find this for you..
I made 4 already :D
Oh wow! Well done! I’ve seen these on some teapots, but I don’t think that my Yixing, which is on the way, comes with the little rope. I’m so glad this worked out and I think I am going to give it a try myself :)
Those are really nifty. And I love your Yixing pots, especially the one in the front right. Very cool.
Looks just like hemp bracelets, omg I used to make so many of them many years ago. I still have the supplies too, I might make a few too!
Hey, those would make nice little gifts in traveling tea boxes and such.
