Would Anyone Be Interested in a Tea and Chocolate Traveling Tea Box
I’m really interested starting a Tea and Chocolate TTB in a few months, I was thinking maybe sometime in November. I understand that that’s the start of the holiday season, but when it comes time to organize an order, I’ll try to pick people who’ll be able to have it during holidays for the front of the list. And just expect delays at the end of November and December. I want to know how many people would be interested in something like this.
There are a few drawbacks of doing a box like this:
1. Chocolate weighs more so we would probably need to do a priority flat rate box.
2. To try and cut back on costs and delivery time, it will be U.S. only.
3. To attempt to reduce possible complications, when I do open signups, its not going to be a first come basis. I reserve the right to chose participants based on activity in previous TTB, swap reputation, and activity levels.
This box is Tea and Chocolate, so I want a majority of the teas are going to be chocolate themed. Teas with cocoa notes, caramel notes, ect for straight teas. For flavored teas, chocolate flavored, raspberry flavored, caramel, ect. Just like most TTB, you replace as much as you take out, both with the tea and the chocolate.
Maybe even try to do pairings, like a dark chocolate and a tea that’s got cocoa notes. Or like chocolate with raspberries and a raspberry tea. Or just a tea you think would go well with the chocolate. Try to relate the main tea and chocolate you have together some how. Bonus points if you can find something unique from a local chocolate shop or like a flavor thats not that common. Like chocolate and chili matched with like a spicy chai tea.
So would anyone be interested in this? Again, this isn’t sign ups yet, this is just seeing who would maybe be interested.
It definitely sounds like a fun and interesting idea. My only concern would be that chocolate, especially fancier and interestingly flavored varieties, can get quite expensive, so I’m not sure how many different kinds I would want to put in…
It doesn’t have to be too fancy, I know like Lindt bars are about $2.50, and they have stuff like Black Currant and Chili flavors. I’m thinking of starting with like 6 kinds of chocolate to begin with.
I guess that’s true. I’d definitely be willing to give it a try, especially if it’s a couple months from now, since right now I’m not spending money. :P Plus I suppose the chocolate would melt.
I live in an artisan chocolate desert.
So my Krackle miniature that I’m enjoying with my orchid oolong would count? Somehow, I think I’d feel bummed if I opened up a chocolate and tea box and it had Hersheys miniatures in it.
That sounds really awesome and I’d love to join BUT… I wonder if October is still too hot in some places to be shipping chocolate and expecting it to not melt. I know in Austin we have had some really hot Halloweens where my makeup was dripping off me. Just something to think about. :)
I’m in.
If I could be in, twice, I would do that. For realz. I wish we didn’t have to wait til October, but at least it’s something to look forward to, in Autumn!
I’d be interested as well, but am likely in one of those places where November would be safer than October.
I think I will move it back later, I was just afraid of starting it too late in the year and it not finishing before it starts to heat back up again. But I definitely understand that its still hot in October. I do live in Florida after all, haha
I’m interested! But yeah, I agree waiting until October or November so we don’t have melting. I’m in Southern California.
Not too long ago I ordered some chocolates from nuts.com and I paid extra to get special packaging to help the temperature stay cool. They put my melty items in a special thermal insulated bubble mailer that helped as I had no melting. If we could snag one of those to put the chocolate in, I think we’ll be fine. However, I’m googling around, but I haven’t found a similar product for cheap or in singles.
Something like this http://www.shippingboxwholesale.com/Cool-Shield-Bubble-Mailers-Prodview.html
If we’re going to primarily be putting grocery store chocolate in there, I don’t see the point.
