Let’s see for the Star Trek side of me
Gene Roddenberry
Leonard Nimoy
Patrick Stewart (he actually prefers Lapsang Souchong, not Earl Grey)
I actually met George Takei and invited him over to UCLA to give a speech. Got to have lunch with him and converse on various subjects.

Ok, Fantasy
George R. R, Martin (actually liked his books long before the series on HBO. Might want to plead to have him write faster)
Terry Brooks
Wil Ohmsford (the fictional character from Elfstones of Shannara)

For the Japanese side of me
Izumi Sakai

Others?
Herbert Von Karajan (had tickets to go see him with Berlin Philharmonic but he got sick and never made it to Pasadena)
Peter Sellars (loved the multiple roles he had in Dr. Stragelove)
Ivan Lendl
Steve Jobs

What would I serve? Of course, my favorite Darjeelings from Mariage Freres

Reading everyone else has given me too many more ideas!

The Doctor – Eleven, of course. But as the Doctor. I mean, it’d be great to meet Matty but I would travel with the doctor in a heartbeat. Ten would also be fantastic. Heck, any of them! Or Amy. Or River. Or Donna.

More practically, I would LOVE to have tea with Stephen Fry. Reading his books and watching his programs have given me snatches of his brilliance, but I’d love to meet him. Tea with he and Allan Davies at once would be a hoot!

Lewis Carroll – Big Alice fan from way back. Really, any of my (many) favourite authors would be great. I’ll keep pondering…

Oh man…
Freddy Mercury.
John Belushi.
Dan Aykroyd.
Steven Page and Ed Robertson.
Janis Joplin, Steven Tyler, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny and June (Carter) Cash.

Some more characters:
Sam and Dean Winchester, Sherlock (as portrayed by Cumberbatch and also as written by Doyle), Derek (as written and played by Ricky Gervais), Thursday Next.

Perhaps you and Lewis Carroll can have a Mad Tea Party. If so, please invite me. I’ll bring scones. (Oh, there is an Alice in Wonderland tea blend.)

You must watch QI!

QI is the best! I’d like tea with Fry and my favorite panelists (Jo, David, Phill, Rob, Jimmy, and Sean).

Actually, even just tea with David Mitchell would be amazing.

The Winchesters? Make it a beer. ;)

What is QI? I assume some sort of show.

Go look it up on Youtube! I think “Empire” is a great starting place.

It’s a British panel show, hilarious and intelligent.

I like to watch that is kinda music themed. The guy from the Mighty Boosh is on it a lot.

You’re thinking of Nevermind the Buzzcocks. QI is the one with Stephen Fry and Alan Davies (the guy from Jonathan Creek). :)

Stephen Fry would b ALMOST as good as Oscar Wilde. I adore Stephen Fry.

How about Stephen Fry and Oscar Wilde at once since Fry is a major Wilde fan. That would be awesome. I am also (obviously) a huge QI fan. I love Jo, Phil, David, Jeremy, Dara, and so many more. I’m actually quite behind, we are halfway through H right now. I’ve been listening to the podcast at work which is fun.

I enjoy Nevermind the Buzzcocks but I feel left behind there quite a bit. I get most of the QI reverences but Buzzcocks is out of my league!

I got really mad at the last episode of QI that we saw (which was a rerun) because Fry never gave the correct answers to the questions. I hate that!

What wonderful choices!

Old but out of touch friends.

1. My childhood neighbour, who was born to missionary parents in pre-revolution China, travelled a lot and was a house mother at the National Ballet School. I remember her taking me to Tea with the students.

2. One of my Ireland housemates who has had a fascinating life, is very funny and great company, though mostly er chatted over wine and chocolate ( I have an addiction to Galaxy Chocolate). She worked at British airways back in the BAOC days, lived in Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur, with her first HB ( times of London foreign correspondent), then ran a finishing school in BC.

Family. My many times great grandmother born 1799, who raised two kids our of wedlock and lived in the same property for close to 100 years. I want to know her story.

Too many historical and literary figures to mention.

I hope you can get in touch with the living folks and do that tea! Your relative sounds like a real force of nature for a woman of her time.

I second Garret (and co.) from Mandala Tea. Also, quite frankly, any fellow tea lovers!

Currently I’m in the mood to have tea with Federico da Montefeltro, mercenary and duke of Urbino, though I suppose it would have to be tisane as he lived in the 15th century.

He had quite an interesting life and his court in Urbino had an amazing library and supported many thinkers and artists.

I would like to see if he could balance a teaspoon on the top of that remarkable nose of his.

Ditto, though I did speak to Tibetan Monks and official in McLeod Ganj, where they spike about their fears of acculturisation, the effects of globalisation on their youth, the difficulty of having the Tibetan population divided in India with a large number of the population in Pine, and their admiration of the Israelis for maintaining their language and cultural traditions, especially among the youth.
