Is this a good idea?
Im wanting a cup of tea tonight but I wanna try to spice it up, I have no fancy items like cloves, but I have cinnamon, milk, nutmeg, vanilla extract, the mix.
I have a melon black tea I can use, well actually I have a lot of tea I could use for it, but i’m wondering if I boil milk, vanilla, cinnamon an add it to my tea, would it taste good?
Sounds good. I don’t know that I would personally use a melon tea since it might be too weak to compete with spices but that is all about personal taste. If you want stronger spices, you can heat the milk with the spices for a bit, then add tea (you will probably want to make it heavier than normal). The last minute of the steep add the vanilla and then strain it all out into your cup.
While I am not a blender of teas, I’d say that any decently strong basic black tea would be fine with those things you mentioned.
I have a Rooibos Chai, I would imagine the same would apply?
In terms of actually making it I can’t just make a full cup of tea and add it all in, generally what should do? Half tea half milk, cinnamon, vanilla?
When I make a latte, I generally make the tea with half the amount of water I usually would (but still the full amount of leaf) and then add hot milk. I don’t know that I would necessarily add more cinnamon to a tea that’s already a chai, but you could certainly try it. Just mix the vanilla into the milk before you add it.
A lot of people also make a creamy chai by heating the milk in a saucepan with the spices and then steeping the tea in it for several minutes. Just make sure you wait until near the end to add the vanilla because it’ll cook out if you add it too early.
