ISO Gongfu sized non-clay teapot
I had a 150ml glass teapot, but it broke. So I’m looking for a teapot for gongfu brewing, preferably 120-150ml and not glass because I’m tired of dealing with how hot and fragile glass is. Also, I need the pot to work for any of my teas, so yixing/clay is not what I’m looking for here. I guess all that leaves is ceramic, porcelain, bone china, cast iron… anyone have any suggestions for a teapot that small? I find gaiwans to be awkward so I’d rather have a teapot.
There are quite a few around. I got a Lin’s model from The Tea Merchant, a handmade one from Taiwan Tea Craft, and several from Shawn’s Greenwood Studio shop on Etsy. These were all nice ceramic pieces.
Have you checked out your local second hand stores? I found two tiny teapots doing that. I agree with you about the small teapots. I enjoy them best. I was thinking of getting a gaiwan but they don’t do anything different than a teapot and the teapot is easier to handle.
I’ve checked my thrift stores, but they never really have anything good. Tea drinking isn’t very popular in the South excepted for sweet tea sugar water.
I’ve been looking for the same thing – I’ve been eyeing this seller that was posted about here on Steepster, but I haven’t ordered from them yet to know if they are good.

Other than that – ebay seems the cheapest place to go. I’ve ordered from this seller http://stores.ebay.com/ShanghaiStory, http://stores.ebay.com/Goshopstreet and http://stores.ebay.com/Dragon-Tea-House and have all been good for teaware.
Have you tried this style of gaiwan? I find them much easier to use as they pour nicely, don’t burn fingers and don’t need much coordination. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porcelain-Gaiwan-white-NO1-125ml-/171064834377?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27d4423949
Butiki Teas has a similar gaiwan http://www.butikiteas.com/Teawares.html
YunnanSourcing also has a few, I also have this style where there are holes in the lid, which is even more easier to use http://yunnansourcing.com/en/gaiwans/1812-bone-china-white-ru-yi-easy-gaiwan-for-gong-fu-tea-brewing-150ml.html
I second that ebay might be a good choice for gongfu porcelin pots. I have seen several on there for good prices, often with free shipping directly from China.
I really like those gaiwans! Who do you think would be faster, eBay or Yunnan sourcing?
Ebay, i get it from Dragon Tea House for 10 days or rebecca li

this seems to fit the bill perfectly. I can also vouch for their incredible oolongs and blacks (try the GABA oolong!) I’ve heard nothing but praise for their other teas, including their high mountain oolong selection. I’ve personally tried the Longfengxia which I can safely say was excellent.
If you want to be able to use if for different types of teas, how about this Tokoname teapot from Golden Moon? The fine mesh strainer lines the inside of the pot allowing for generous circulation volume for tea leaves.
