Brushing a Yixing Pot
I often see “tea brush”es being sold with yixing pot accessories. Does anyone know if it’s really even necessary to “brush” a pot? And if so, what makes a tea brush different from any other brush? Couldn’t I just use something like say, a foundation brush (for makeup)? There doesn’t seem to be much difference.
I think it is best in a tea ceremony not to use fingers on the pot, rather inelegant and I suppose less sanitary. I have had the same thought about the make up brush too, I suppose men aren’t going to want to use a make up brush so another tool is available. The downside to the make up brush would be people thinking the brush is used for make up too (ew) only because the brush reads as a make up brush.
I have my tea alone so no problem there.:) I wouldn’t use my fingers anyway.
