'Gold' Tea Recommendations...
Recently, I’ve tried Golden Monkey black tea from Teavivre, and Yunnan Gold tea from Teasenz. I was wanting to try others of either type. (Yes, I know Yunnan is a place.) Where else can I like or similar teas? Preferably only in half once or about 5-12 grams.
There is this selection on eBay

8teas * 15g , you should occasssionally check out there auction section as well. Theatre are sometimes great deals on an oz or so..
I haven’t purchased this one yet. It does look really nice though. All I really know is that this companies Jinjunmei is really well received. When I found this I had just gone on an aliexpress spree and was on a bit of a buying hiatus.
hmmm… i’ve never purchased tea from ebay. Any guess on what the source is? Anyone?
They are a Chinese company that is fairly well established. There are reviews of some of their teas going back 3 years on Steepster.
I’ve purchased tea a couple of times from eBay.both times from Chinese suppliers. Both delivered promptly and as promised. I contacted one who didn’t ship to Canada and he did ship quickly at the same rate as the us shipping. I like to take advantage of auctions, because sometimes it’s away to sample a tea at a very good price. I once got a nice jinjunmei and a wild wuyi tea altogether 150g of tea for about 6$ shipped. The only thing you may have to have is patience as parcels from China have taken anywhere from 12-25 days to reach Canada. My friend buying from the same supplier received her teas in the US in a shorter period of time.
Harney has Golden Monkey, Assam Golden Tips, Yunnan Golden Tips (a Golden Blend of Assam & Golden Monkey) & Java Golden in sample sizes. If they get it back in stock, their Panyang Golden is amazing.
I can’t remember if I’ve had them yet but Upton has a few golden yunnans as well.
I am a huge fangirl of Harney’s Golden Monkey. I’m going to watch for their Panyang. Thanks Nicole.
And I totally CANNOT believe I didn’t mention this – Lariel, Verdant’s Golden Fleece is indescribably delicious.
Verdant’s Golden Fleece is quite amazing, I agree. If not looking only for sample sizes, Teavivre’s Yun Nan Dian Hong Golden Tip & Mandala’s Golden Strand offerings are both surpassingly excellent. If someone already knows they like the Yunnan type of teas, I would not hesitate to recommend the full sizes of any of these 3, as I am pretty confident they would not go un-enjoyed.
Tao Tea Leaf in Toronto offers 5g samples

Not sure how much that is, but I understand as there Canadian shipping is 10.00 if your purchase is under 35. They are offering samples for review for bloggers but I’m not sure if they accept Steepster reviewers.
Some other places to consider are Capital Tea Ltd. Their sample sizes are 20g. http://www.capitaltea.com/shop/home.php?cat=32
I ordered from this aliexpress dealer recently

Who has mostly teas from tan yang. The prices are very good and it seems you can select for the tea to be sent in sample sized packets so you could easily swap them.
I’d scope out eBay auctions as well. Sometimes you can get really great prices.
Jkteashop has sampler packs for several regions of China
http://www.jkteashop.com/tea-sample-packs_c4.html as well.
Yezi tea has 5g samples.
I asked about the review samples, so thanks for that. Ordered a couple samples from Jkteashop, because… reasons. Can I count that as tea research?
Yunnan Sourcing has a number of “gold” Yunnan teas. Their smallest size is 50 gm, but the prices are reasonable. Here is one I’ve been drinking:

Anyone ever had Golden Moon Tea’s Golden Monkey? There’s no reviews here, and only two vague reviews on the GM site. I’d get some but $10/oz is a bit much to pay for an unknown…well for me at least. And that’s one of the few that doesn’t have a sample available. Lol.
