Kitchenaid Variable Temperature Electric Kettle KEK1722
Happy Weekend Everyone! I am new to tea, new to Steepster, new, new new.
Is anyone familiar with the Kitchenaid KEK1722? Runs about $99 US. Looks similar to the Cuisinart CPK-17 PerfecTemp 1.7-Liter.
There are 4 reviews over at amazon, but I have not seen anything from the Tea community anywhere. Also depends which color you look at, as to # of comments, if any.

Sorry I can’t help you. I have a Zojirushi and couldn’t live without it!
I don’t have that one myself, but it looks like it only has 5 preset temperature settings, and no finer control than that. Personally I’ve got the much cheaper Hamilton-Beach variable temp kettle and pretty much couldn’t be happier with it.
I second this! The Hamilton-Beach Programmable Kettle is great, you can wake up to hot water and you can set the temp at 5° intervals. It also has the heating capability, keeping it the desired temperature for up to an hour.
The preset temperatures seem to cover the range of temps most desired for the different types of teas commonly brewed, however I like the freedom of being able to adjust the temperature manually.
That the kettle will keep the water at the desired temperature is a great feature, too.
I have no experience with this kettle, but it’s one that i might select, if i were in the market for a new kettle.
Not much help, i’m afraid….

I also have the $35(if I remember rightly) Hamilton Beach one. It holds 1.7L as well, and I have been pretty happy with it. I use it every day and have for at least 4 months.
