Chinese black tea. Can’t really go wrong with how I was raised.
I think my answer would be dragon well. Interesting name and great green. A good dragon well is just about everything I like in a green tea.
For me, it’s hard to go wrong with an Assam. :) But really, I like so many different flavours and styles it would be hard to pick just one tea!
for me, there is just ONE tea (although I do drink other ones at times :))
I love sencha above anything else. Usually spend a fortune getting them from Japan. :)
I just tell them what my current favorite is.
Jasmine green is my old staple. If I travel I always take a few bags along (In all honesty , it’s the whole box, not a few bags).
My favourite always changes too but I usually say that I’m enjoying different Japanese teas at the moment and if they insist I must have one favourite then I say Genmaicha. I could drink Genmaicha all day, every day and never be bored so I suppose that would make it a favourite.
It’s different here, many British people don’t realise there are other teas around and that the world is wider than what you can just pick up from the shelves. Plus it’s weird how many of them seem to think that tea just comes bagged, like it grows on the trees that way or something! Then when I say that my tea is loose they ask if it’s cheaper because it doesn’t come in a bag and they further comment that without a bag tea is useless and not a real tea because real tea comes in bags. :/ This is why Britain now consumes more coffee then tea, here the world is upside down and inside out. And yes I know this rant was off topic and I apologize, it would seem I needed to get it off my chest.
The US isnt much different. Tea is a huge mystery to most folks here. Acvordiing to “The Tea Association of the USA” 85% of tea consumed in the US is iced. 65% is consumed from tea bags. The us ranks as #65 in world tea condumption. Britian is #3.
Not to mention here in the southern midwest where I currently live – “tea” is a gallon of overbrewed lipton bags with 1 or 2 cups of sugar mixed in then chilled in the refrigerator. blech
