Travelling Tea Box - The Great Canadian Edition (Round 2: December 2013) SIGN UPS CLOSED
Good news everyone: I received the box today! And more good news: I’m off school and work for most of the week so I should be able to get through the teas fairly quickly! I’m so excited :D
Well it took a bit longer than I’d anticipated but the box is finally on its way back to Lala!
I’m excited to get the box back and see whats all in it. Depending when I get it, there should be a pretty quick turn around. So I am excited to start planning for the next round.
Well it appears the box was delivered to my house. I should get it when I get home from work today. Canada post was super quick for once.
Yes super fast! So I got home and the box was there on my doorstep. I am super happy it was left and I didn’t have to make a visit to the jail to get it. I am ridiculously busy this weekend so I may not get the box opened until next week. But it should be a quick turn around. I am excited at how well this round went.
The box has returned!!! I sent it out sometime in the beginning of December 2013 but I failed to record the date, and it came back on May 14/14. It was 0.958kg when I sent it out and it was 1.327 kg when it returned. The little tea book also survived. It is really neat to see everyone’s entries.

Well kudos to everyone that participated in this round. It went extremely well. I am so very surprised about how much tea was in this box. To Janelle (or whomever) packed the box, wow! You have got some skill. The box also smelled delicious! Mmmmmm, box of tea. I am looking forward to trying a lot of these teas. I am hoping to get organized this week/weekend and get ready for the next round.
Hey Everyone.
I am still working my way through the box but it took a few weeks last time to set up the new round so I thought I would start now.
1. First of all, any of the participates from round 2 that would like to participate in the next round, please let me know. Please note: I am not taking any new sign ups at the moment.
2. Any comments, good or bad.
I think I would like to tweak the rules a little bit, adding a note that any new participates need to have some activity on steepster prior to being included.
There was a comment previously about increasing the number of participants. Does anyone have any opinions on this?
3. We need a new theme for the next round.
I was thinking it could a “favorites” box. You would have to include at least one serving of one of your all time favorite teas. You know, those teas that you hoard and don’t share with anyone.
Any other suggestions?
Hey Lala !!!
Enjoy the box, I’m sure that you will enjoy tons of tea. I would love to be a part of the third round if possible :) .
I loved the little journal that we got to write in, I think that it was a good idea and it should continue to the next one. I don’t have a problem with increasing the number of ppl a little bit as long as it doesn’t get too pricey.
I think that your theme idea is cool. And if we keep the journal, then we can explain why the tea is our fave. JUst a suggestion that may be fun to learn about each other.
OOOOOH i like that idea for a theme…of course i share my all time favourites with people..but a tea box of that nature would be great, provided no one gets upset if ppl don’t love their favourites…just means more for them!
That being said, I’m in to participate, though i’d likely need to sit somewhere in the middle to end, if only because i’m moving June 1 and will need time to get re-organised :)
I’m in for another round. I didn’t do too well with the last theme. Most of the local tea I had I put in round one, and I really had a massive cupboard explosion at the time – couldn’t be buying more tea. LOL I’m behind, but I have LOTS of local tea now, will include some for the next round AND whatever the current theme is. Promise – I’ll do better this time. :))
I like the all time favorite idea. Like Sil, I share mine (I think there is only ONE I’m hoarding) – but could find a few to put in the box. :))
I liked the book, think we should keep it. I would also like to keep the SAME book if there is room in it. I was near the beginning last time and would like to be able to look through what others wrote….(I’d also like to be further down the list next time – but that can be negotiated later…)
As discussed before I’m ok with adding a couple more people but would like the group to stay reasonably small. Less than 15 for sure. 12 sounds like a good number to me.
I agree that the little tea diary was awesome. It is really interesting to see everyone’s “entries”. We should be able to keep the same book for part of the next round, there is about 1/4 of the book left. I will get a larger one for the next round too.
I am happy to participate again. A favourites box sounds delicious! Another fun theme could be surprise teas (as in ones you weren’t expecting to love as much as you did for whatever reason) though tbh, a favourites box is more exciting.
Oh and I forgot to mention, I have now officially moved back home so I am now in Toronto (Technically thornhill), Ontario.
That sounds like an awesome theme! I would love to be a part of the tea box another round, but I am afraid I am going to have to sit this round out. My partner and I are making a major move in the next few months so I can not promise to know my address or be somewhere a tea box can easily be sent to. Have fun though!!
I’m definitely interested in participating in the next round, I had a blast with this one! The tea diary was a great idea but like Dex I’d love to see the first book come back around too.
I really like the favorites theme that you suggested Lala, but if you’re looking for other thoughts (if we think the box might make it around by the end of summer/early fall) “better iced than hot” teas might be interesting.
If someone is still willing to ship to the states, I’d definitely be interested in another round!
