Received my first Beautiful Taiwan Teas order in the mail yesterday. 10g samples of each the following:
Ali Shan Oolong
Dayuling High Mountain Oolong
Twisted Green Tea
Asian Beauty Oolong
All day sipdown underway…
Came home to a midnight teamail package from Tea Yuan. All samples, 18g each of Rou Gui and Lao Chong Shui Xian and an ounce each of Tao Cha Ju Mengsong and GFZ. They also sent me almost an ounce of freebies since I ordered while they were in china sourcing teas and couldn’t get my tea out for a few weeks. Free samples were high roast TieLuoHan,TGY and a 3 stamp shui xian. Pic here https://instagram.com/p/7RphiTNYzJ/?taken-by=grill__
Today I got my order from Berylleb King Tea on EBay, a ripe cake, a raw cake and a package of loose ripe tea.

Samples from houde:
2001 MengKu “Yuan Yieh Xian” of MengSa, Thick-papered
2007 Autumn Xi-Zhi Hao “Da Xue Shan” Sun-Dried Mao Cha
2013 Xi Zi Hai Spring “Da Xue Shan”
Edit: apparently something I ordered was out of stock instead they sent 2004 Nan-Jian First batch “Zhai Zhi Po” sheng. Besides the mouthful of a name I don’t know anything about this tea
Nice. I’ve been meaning to resession that XZH DXS for a while. Making note of it.
That 2004 Nanjian was widely reviewed a while back. Not particularly well-received. I thought it was decent.
It’s all firsts for me. I just did some quick research on the nanjian and can see it’s not winning any popularity contests. It’ll still be a good educational drink if I don’t like it since I’ve never had anything from that region or producer. Looking at the maocha the leaves are HUGE, like so big I don’t think they’ll git into anything that isn’t a gaiwan.
Yeah. I think it’s also interesting to review the tea and see how it’s come along. There’s some teas from Houde that got rather mediocre reviews that I’ve enjoyed far more than I would’ve thought.
I’m really excited to see how the cakes I have evolve over the next few years. I’d love to have enough to tea to try a couple different storage setups and see what I like the best
Tried out a new seller on Aliexpress and already have it! I only placed my order a week and a half ago.
The travel gaiwan is so nice and since I was already ordering that I ordered some tea samples to try.

I can’t speak for the teas so far but they were pretty fast with the shipping and I’m really happy with the travel gaiwan.
Yunomi order arrived today. 10g each of gyokuro, first flush sencha, summer sencha (free sample), and sakura tea.
I’m most excited about the sakura tea. It’s an actual cherry blossom flower that has been pickled. I will of course make sakura tea with it, but there are also many recipes using it that I’ll try as well.
Following you now, interested in what you think of the Sakura :)
Sounds like a great haul!
Sakura tea is certainly weird. Curious as to what you will think of it.
I’m still troubleshooting this tea. The instructions say to soak in hot water before steeping. Problem is, that seems to wash out most of the tea’s flavor. It tastes like salty hot water :-/
At this point, I enjoy the spectacle of the cherry blossom unfurling more than the tea.
That’s what I thought of it too when I had it. Even after soaking it to get the salt out, it was still salty. It was very pretty though. I would love to try these blossoms fresh.
