Received my swap from Ost which was super generous and I’m so excited to try all the teas!!

I received an order from Lupicia today. I’d placed one a couple weeks ago, and some of the teas they sent me were the wrong form (loose leaf vs. tea bag), and when I wrote them they immediately sent me the tea bags. Very nice customer service and I’m very pleased with how they handled things.

Today I got my order from Tablinshop in Japan. This order could only have gotten here faster with a transporter from Star Trek. It was here two days after it showed up on tracking, two and a half days after it shipped. It consisted of a beautiful teacup that I will use for puerh tea as I never use those tiny Chinese cups even though I have plenty. I also ordered Sencha, Hojicha, and two different matchas. Also included was a free sample of another type of Hojicha.

Today I got two green teas in the Mail from Shi Zen Tea, an Amazon order of several teas including peppermint and fennel teas and one called Temple of Heaven China Green Tea. I remember this tea from the Asian grocery store and loved it. I haven’t seen it these lately so I bought it from Amazon when I saw it. I also stopped at a local Teavana store and bought a Glass Perfect Tea Maker and a green tea.

Today I got ALL THE Butiki 1989 Suncha Puerh. Time to get cracking! It’s going to be so much fun parceling this out for everyone who wanted some.

I also got 1lb of some of Golden Tips CTC Assam. It’s going with me to work so I can make my own ‘teapresso’

Got back to Boston last night from Pittsburgh and found two boxes waiting for me. Verdant sent me traditional tieguanyin, laoshan black, and yu lu yan chai, plus a sample of hand picked autumn tieguanyin. My Yezi Tea box has qing pin black, and yi fu chun black, and samples of jin jun mei black, li shan oolong, and white peony master grade bai mu dan. And to make it even better, last week for Valentine’s Day, my sweetie got me a glass gaiwan, so I’m having fun watching the leaves unfurl in that.

What was I doing in Pittsburgh, you might ask? It was the first weekend of ITMA Tea Sommelier Training. In other words, two days of sitting in a hotel conference room with other tea fanatics, sipping, discussing, learning, and meditating on tea (including a 30-year-old sheng – yowza!). There are eight weeks of online follow-up, at the end of which I hope to be a certified sommelier. ‘scuse me now, I gotta go study – and mindfully sip.
