Official *What did you get in the mail today?* Thread!!!
After more than two weeks of delay, an email of concern, and a slight tear in the envelope, my 52Teas order has finally arrived x_X
I know, I know, I’m constantly singing American Tea Room’s praises. But I buckled and ordered a couple of their on sale tea cups, and they are equally – if not more so – gorgeous in person than on the site. The Black Rain Water teacup is darker than I expected, but the weight of it in my hand and the grip is just amazing. The Jade and Gold dipped teacup was meant to replace one of my recently departed cups, and I totally love the glaze on it, and how it textures the inside around the rim. Plus they sent me a sample of River of Heaven, and… I am screwed, because all their tea is so good. Probably going to drop a paycheck on that place one of these days. Sigh.
They do frequently seem to have 15-20% off, sometimes with extra incentives. Also, letting them know that you’re from Steepster seems to net some extra samples, but it’s not a foolproof plan. Their Milk Oolong is spectacular – very complex, green, and buttery. The only downside is that it’s fairly expensive. I lived off samples of it for quite a while before committing to a couple ounces at a time. Also good is the Brioche, which tastes pretty much exactly like an expensive pastry, with notes of almond and cinnamon. Their Nirvana is a nice, fruity green, and the taste seems to get clearer and cleaner after the first steep. I usually cold steep that one, just because I feel like it becomes pretty overpowering otherwise. Also good are the lavender sencha (provided you like lavender, ‘cause boy is this that), the Bao Zhong Royale Oolong (full disclosure, I don’t really care for floral oolongs, but this one was very good), and my sister is addicted to Pink Christmas. Even their Oh, Canada took me by surprise, lacking that cloying, fake maple flavor I’d suspected might surface the first time I tried it. The only teas of theirs I haven’t been over the moon about are the Maraschino and the Macaroon, both of which are rooibos. If you happen to like rooibos, maybe they’ll work out for you, but I personally couldn’t stand them.
I had a great swap with EmilyGee. I received Cherry Snowcone by David’s Tea, Pumpkin Patch by David’s Tea and Mango Sunrise by Yumchaa.
I received my Davids Tea order! Was getting worried at where it may be due to issues with CP tracking lately. However a big knock on the door bright and early this morning and I have my new hot pink carry travel mug, snowy trees stout cups (to go with the teapot I received at Christmas), tin of read my lips and the starry tea pot for my little sisters birthday (that isn’t until August but it was on SALE!). Also 3 samples: forever nuts, lime gelato and coco chai rooibos!
I got my Blender Bottle to use for matcha milks! So excited, will report on how it goes. :D
I finally received my other David’s Tea order this afternoon. Pineapple Oolong with samples of Coco Chai Rooibos, Forever Nuts and Brazillionaire.
I received a lovely, and very generous, swap package from Nattie :D And, yesterday, a tin of absolutely fabulous Li Shan Oolong came from the London Tea Club – I spent most of this afternoon drinking it and I could have carried on…!
Got some samples and two beautiful wooden coasters from Zen Tea Life. And a sample of Menghai Song of Chi Tsi from Berylleb. He included a lovely bag with some milk oolong samples as well. http://instagram.com/p/x46i6_RWDt/
Got my first puer pick today http://instagram.com/p/x5KdDoxh8T/
Watch out puer cakes I am coming for you!!!
Tea ’SPLOSION! at my place today – what-cha; verdant and dragon tea house all showed up today…
I’m just going to say it again…. OMG!!!!
Seriously – that looks great and you’ve worked so hard to bring your cupboard under control you totally deserve this "SPLOSION :))
I think i figured out my process… spend all year, decreasing my cupboard size. Achieve goal by year end…place a number of orders that show up in january but don’t increase my cupboard to the size it was the previous year….start again, working my way down to a lower number than last year haha
