Received some surprise tea in the mail from Sil today! It really, really made my morning since I wasn’t expecting anything incoming :)

And the A&D tattoos are awesome!

Went by the store, actually… got Canadian Breakfast (selected by the Oolong Owl), and a sample of Hojicha. From New Mexico Tea Company.

I got my swap from Stephanie! Well, technically I suppose it’s a care package, since I’m not sending her a package at the moment. She sent me some lovely Lupicia samples along with mugicha and an oolong from TeaVivre. Thanks, dear!

I still haven’t gotten my Lupicia order… The order was placed on the 28th. Come on guys, I’ve gotten a swap from Canada and samples from China within that time. At least I didn’t pay for the shipping…

If they were offering free shipping for a few days, they could have been swamped with orders. At least you have some nice samples.

I got mine today and I think ours shipped around the same time, so hopefully you’ll get yours soon. I e-mailed them about a couple things and never heard a single thing back. Not a company I’ll be jumping to order from in the future.

According to the tracking, it was delivered at 9 AM this morning. Nope, not outside my door or in my mailbox. Great.

Oh no! Hope it’s not lost Cam :(

And it’s FedEx, so I don’t even know what to do about it…

Ugh, that’s awful. Even worse due to Lupicia’s poor customer service. Can you call your bank about it?

I’m going to wait and see if it turns up by Monday, if not I’ll file a report with FedEx and pursue getting a replacement from Lupicia. We’ll see how it goes.

I found it! The FedEx person left it in the first-floor lobby… Apparently going up to the second-floor mail room was too big a hassle.

Glad it finally showed up.

It was a big mailday! Got a TeaLyra (TeaLux) package and a huge box from DavidsTea with the Advent Calendar and a bubble teapot. This is now easily the biggest teapot I own, I’m still getting over how big it is!

I also got a big package that was misdelivered to my address, but I left it with the neighbors it belongs to. =)

+1 to karma

I got my Dammann Frères advent calendar! Or rather, I would have if USPS didn’t suck. Instead, I got a peach-colored “Sorry We Missed You” slip in my mailbox. Well yeah, it’s pretty easy to miss me when you don’t bother coming to my apartment to see if I’m there. Ugh! I’ll be picking it up on Monday I suppose.

I will say, I am shocked by how quickly it got here. It came from France and I only ordered it Tuesday evening. It “got” here Saturday! Wow.

Picked it up today! They included 3 samples, I’m so happy! :)

Yesterday I did an IRL swap with Marzipan and discovered my swap package from TeaTiff had spent the night on the porch Saturday night.

Thanks ladies!

It’s always great to see you!

Lime Blossom Mint

Oh try the caramel!

Yes ma’am! :)

Lime blossom mint? :-O :D ?!

Yeah, that’s what they call linden mint. :P

So maybe this doesn’t belong in this discussion thread, because I didn’t get these lovely teas in the mail. I picked them up this past weekend at the Philadelphia Coffee & Tea Festival. So. Much. Fun. For a relative newbie like me, it was just great to be introduced to vendors I’d never heard of and spend time chatting with people who care about good tea as much as I do, to say nothing of tasting some wonderful teas. I got to hear Kevin Gascoyne (author of Tea: History, Terroirs, Varieties) give an hour-long talk about, well, tea’s history, terroirs, and varieties. He’s a lovely gent and truly, he’s forgotten more about tea than I’ll ever know. I also met the most excellent Charles and Erik of Damn Fine Tea (aka Andrews & Dunham), who behave exactly as you might think from reading their descriptions. And then there’s the lovely and energetic Julia Matson of Bingley’s Teas, who likes to name her blends after characters from Jane Austen novels. It was just delightful hanging out with tea folks. Oh right, and I picked up some great stuff:
A&D’s spring keemun
Bingly’s 2005 aged oolong and mei li shan green
Health & Tea’s winter mountain white
My Zen Tea’s spring 2014 ancient green pu-ehr (100 gm) and box of 2014 black tuo chas

But wait, there’s more! I got home from the weekend in Philadelphia (where I also got to spend lots of time with my younger son who is a freshman at Drexel) and found a box from Butiki waiting for me containing:
Chrysanthemum Double Trouble blossoming tea
Dinjoye Estate assam
Hong Yun black
Hand rolled giddapahar
Organic Korakundah (bonus ounce – thanks Stacy!)
Chashaku so I can measure my matcha
Lovely white gaiwan

I think I need to reorganize my cabinets before I order any more tea. I’ll get these logged in my Steepster cupboard in the next few days, then I’ll be happy to swap with anyone interested.

Sounds like you had fun! That spring Keemun is yummy!

Hillel said

Good to hear. I love keemun and Erik said that this is a particularly tasty, somewhat lighter version. It was the priciest thing I got at the expo, but they only had a limited amount of it so I took the plunge. Does it really need five minutes of steeping?!

boychik said

Yes, it needs 5 min. Otherwise you may find it weak. This tea is delicious.

That sounds like so much fun and you got some great teas! I know all about the overloaded tea cabinet! I have too many too.
