Official *What did you get in the mail today?* Thread!!!
MY KETTLE CAME!!! I got the 1.7L variable temp Bonavita and I’m SO EXCITED for it. No more candy thermometer, no more waiting for water to cool, just precisely heated water every time. Woo!
I got my Sheng Pu-erh sampler from Mandala tea yesterday!! so excited to try it!
Yay mail day! I got my balloon bubble mugs that I ordered on clearance from David’s, as well as 50g of Toasted Walnut (it sounded good…). http://instagram.com/p/tapz-kGgFn/
I also got my swap from the lovely boychik! So many things, I love you! And she added a lovely little note too. And thanks also to CharlotteZero for all of the Heritage Gourmand samples! :D http://instagram.com/p/taqQglmgGc/
I got my first puerh cake EVER! Yay! I subscribed to Jalam Teas monthly puerh subscription and they sent me the September tea…took about 3 days after they shipped it! I do not have a puerh pick yet, so I’ll have to improvise, but I’m so excited!
Got both my orders from Butiki Teas and Octavia Teas!

Taiwanese Lapsang is one of our new teas that we will be adding to the website shortly. Taiwanese Lapsang is known as Tarry Lapsang Souchong. Local evergreen wood is used to naturally smoke it (no flavors are added). It has a smokey, almost bacony flavor, with some fruitiness and light licorice notes. It’s complex, full-bodied, smooth, and velvety.
boychik-I love this one. Already working on some blends with it. To me it is super bacony, not that I have had bacon in decades but that’s what I imagine bacon tastes like.
Tried out Coffee & Cigarettes but that tasted way too much like coffee and cigarettes. Later we will be testing out smoked pineapple and a smoked maple banana tea.
Stephanie-Glad it sounds NOM. :D
Cameron B-That is the one I hope turns out well. Either that or the smoked cardamom pair.
I got my first issue of Global Tea Hut in the mail today. It came with a small portion of sheng puerh from the Mengku factory. I think if it is good enough it will be possible to identify the cake and find a source of more, in fact it looks suspiciously like one already in my cupboard in spades, one that I have three cakes of but I am not yet certain.

The tea in the issue is almost certainly the 2013 Mengku Wild Arbor King. I have three of them that I bought for an aging experiment some five months ago.
Wow… perusing their website and some of their articles… it really seems like that company is a some type of weird/ pseudo intellectual-cult…. I wouldn’t be surprised that the tea is the sheng you suspect! XD
Today I got my new Cuisinart Variable Temperature Electric Kettle in the mail. It is a replacement for my old one that has mostly worn out from near constant use, also a Cuisinart.
