I just got home from a super and uncharacteristically stressful day at work only to see that my swap from Cameron B. arrived while I was at work! Definitely a very pleasant thing to come home to!
Yay, I’m glad it had such good timing! :P
I hope you enjoy the teas!
I got my order from Teavivre today. One yixing teapot and a load of green and puerh tea samples, ones I have tried were delicious.
Which teapot did you get?
One that comes with the set, I wanted to buy cheaper first to try and if I like it I’m bying a fancier one. :-) http://www.teavivre.com/economical-yixing-zisha-tea-set-14pcs/
That’s the one I have. It’s a cute set! You will love it.
I sure will. What do you brew in your pot?
I brew light oolongs. I will need another one down the road for raw pu’er tea.
I planned this to be my raw pu erh teapot, but I’m not sure yet. Here in Finland isn’t that much shops that sell raw pu erh so I would need to order it from China or something.
Cute! let us know how you like it :)
Ironically I have gotten pretty used to my regular one while I waited for this one to come in ;)
Have you decided on a tea you are going to season it? Very pretty! Enjoy!
I hadn’t thought about it, do I have to? It’s not real yixing or anything, but I guess it is clay (I sound like a doofus). Mostly I gongfu eastern beauty oolong at this point.
Yixing or not ( you dont know, maybe it is)it’s clay and it will absorb flavors. I would stick to OB or other bug bitten oolong
Yeah I just figured since it was so inexpensive and they didn’t make any claims to it being Yixing that it was probably just a knock off :). But to be honest I didn’t think of the clay at all when I bought it, I liked the color and wanted the easy gaiwan style.
As per Wikipedia:
The term “yixing clay” is often used as an umbrella term to describe several distinct types of clay used to make stoneware:
Zisha 1 or Zi Ni (紫砂 or 紫泥 ; literally, “purple sand/clay”): this stoneware has a purple-red-brown color.2

Looks like it’s my go to oolong pot!
Marzipan, I think you need to get a plain porcelain easy gaiwan to brew everything else. Yunnan sourcing has very inexpensive one I use daily

They don’t show on pic there is a basket included
I’ve been eyeing some easy gaiwans myself but haven’t made the plunge. Your’s looks great!
YIPPEE! My very first Mandala Tea order just arrived (I feel a certain connection with them since my beloved danced for many years with the Mandala Folkdance Ensemble). I got the 2014 wild monk pu-ehr, wild monk mao cha, and huo shan huang yan yellow buds. Garret also threw in samples of 2013 temple stairs ripe pu-ehr and highest view green. Thanks Garret.
I’m behind on posting my tasting notes and now I’ve got more in the queue. Gotta stop ordering. Oh right, except there is a package from Butiki on the way. THEN I’ll stop. Really I will. Honest.
Suuuuure you will.
Enjoy your tea :)
(Pffft…I know I can stop whenever I want to…)
EnJoy Hillel, sounds great!
Got the second half of my shipment from dragonteahouse.biz today. It contained 2 100g 2010 Yun Gui Jingmai Ripe cakes, a 2006 Haiwan Lao Tong Zhi Ripe brick, as well as a Beauty of Moonlight White Puer Tea 2012 and 100g of Aged Organic New Technique White Tea. I also got two new tea tools and a small 3 oz porcelain Shui Ping tea pot.
Dragon Tea House has won more of my business for their good service, all things aside.
I like DTH too. Glad you have a great experience with them. Enjoy!
I got my first Whispering Pines samples complete with a sweet handwritten note. http://instagram.com/p/rFynAVxWGJ/ I’m excited to give them a try.
Nice! I didn’t know you could order samples from Whispering Pines. I thought you had to order a substantial amount when placing an order.
Keep us posted on that keemun. I thought about ordering it so I’m curious what it’s like.
Ubacat – I didn’t know either until it was mentioned on one of Whispering Pine’s threads last week. I couldn’t even find it on the website, but if you type “samples” into the search bar it will bring it up.
Hillel – Will do!
Really? Will try that. Thanks.
It’s under Teaware/Etc. → Gifts and Variety Packs.
Perhaps not the most intuitive.
I finally got my Teavivre’s anniversary sampler. It’s only 2 samples instead of 5. I was very excited to try new teas before ordering. Maybe it was my mistake, I dunno
Contact them apparently there was some errors. If you selected the three extra samples you should have received them.
Yeah, I’m confident they’ll fix it for you if you contact them. I ordered the same thing and mine arrived as expected. Guess I was lucky!
Although I got all 5 teas myself I made a mistake and placed two identical orders with them and they quickly fixed things for me even though the mistake was my fault. I was very impressed and am sure they will send you the teas you ordered.
My first order only came with the pu-erh, and they made sure I got the rest.
Mine is out for delivery today. I hope I got all of it, since I was using some of the samples I picked to decide if I want to place more orders….
Mine too, Cheri. I’m going to need a marathon sampling session before the sale ends!
I got my adagio custom blends :-)
Juliet: Irish breakfast/blueberry/coconut
Romeo: Irish breakfast/strawberry/cocoa nibs
They are yummy!
Fun! I gotta try that custom blend thing sometime!
Definitely worth it if you like blends!
I got my Yunnan Sourcing order, wheeeeee!!!!! I bought a couple mini cakes and mini bricks, along with some samples from more expensive cakes because I really want to try them before I fork over the cash. I already tried the first one and it’s a winner!!!!
Woohoo!!! Shengadelic night in perspective…
I am gonna watch Sharknado 2 and drink my shengs! I even got two shous in this order, but I am not quite ready to bust those open yet…
