Today I got my samples from Tao Tea Leaf, and bonus ones.

Awesome! What did you get?

Golden Needle, Milk Oolong, Vanilla Black, Coconut Oolong, Golden Monkey, Vanilla Mint Puer, Da Hong Pao (not sure what that is, but it sounds like black tea), Golden Yunnan, and others.

Really nice! Da Hong Pao is a wuyi oolong but sometimes it’s treated and sold as a black tea.

That was my next guess, but I’ve had more green oolongs.

I’ve found Tao tea leaves brewing instructions really work for me, if your unsure. There is a hole family of Oolong’s derived or part of the da Hong Pao family like shui xian, Rou GUI etc.

thanks! I brewed the dancong, it was good but light. I need to figure out how to brew dancong properly. maybe TeaHabitat will help

Hopefully, I have two dancongs at the moment one does best starting with a steep of 30s. The first time I steeped it, it was too strong. My other one is fairly light as welll. I start with 1 min for it for gongfu, but this is also the one oolong I western brew. Curious about what steeping parameters you will find, that will work for you.

apt how do you claim $1 puerh samples. Every time i go on their site i dont see how. is it because all samples claimed already?

oh and boychik: make sure to send an email and tell thema which free samples you want (unless you chose some of the ones on the site). most of the teas sold there are available as free samples by special request.

wow, good to know. i ordered their featured sample of the month 2006 Chang Tai “Seven Star – Alkaid”. but can i order more than one $1 sample at a time or its only one a month?

Agree. I dont have to wait 6-8 wks haha. I still don’t understand why I cannot order fr my computer. There is no add to cart button, just blank. So I thought everything was claimed.

the site is just really broken in its present state, lots of dead links and missing order buttons. im tempted to offer to redesign it in exchange for free tea lol

Congrats on a new pot. What did you get?

I got the Jian Shui red “Canister” pot. Previously, I bought my son the Crossing pot which is still showing on the site. Seasoned them both together. The Canister is a little larger than I like but I don’t have to fill it all the way ;)

Oh its gorgeous. when i looked at those pots i always assumed they are glazed and could be used for any tea without dedication. They are so shiny…did you season them with shou?
