Official *What did you get in the mail today?* Thread!!!
Woot! I finally got my Herbal Infusions order, and swaps from Sil and Ysaurella. Thanks ladies! :)
I ordered it January 23! I have a 20% off coupon that expires Feb. 28 too. I doubt I’ll get through these in time to use it.
i’ve enjoyed many of the HI things i’ve tried, but both times i’ve ordered from them it’s taken a long time for the tea to arrive, and IIRC there isn’t a confirmation email when it ships so there’s a long period of just kinda crossing your fingers it’s on its way safely. (i’m in the U.S.) i don’t mind too much ‘cause i don’t order very often from them, just wanted to note Courtney’s not alone in long wait time.
Maybe just try each tea and see if something appeals to you. Or you can always give the coupon to someone else.
it’s not kind of insane. that’s downright stupid. Even shipping to the US, i would expect like 15 days max from time to order… within canada? 10..MAAAAAYBE.
ifjuly I also enjoy the majority of their teas I try. Glad to hear I’m not the only one haha!
VariaTEA I may just end up giving away the coupon. I love Cacao and SCC, but I think I’ve got enough for now. :P
Sil I agree. I emailed them to inquire about the order and they were nice about it, and said they had a new packer, but I’m still not impressed with the month it took to get a few provinces over.
These stories are why I haven’t bitten the dust and ordered from them. I don’t feel like giving my money to a company for them to hold product for longer than it takes a US company to get tea to me heh. Instead i just try to pick up anything i need at craft shows etc where they have a presence. but then they get 5$ from me instead of 50+ haha
I know what you mean. My first order with them went over smoothly. I even got a shipping notification email, which evidently is rare. I’ll have to start visiting ON to buy Cacao in person haha.
This makes me sad. :(( I’ve ordered twice from Herbal Infusions and didn’t have any problem at all. Got my order in a reasonable amount of time. I like their teas. I don’t like hearing that others are having problems with them. Makes me think twice….
dexter – dan just knows you’ve been voted “most likely to order when i shouldn’t” by the steepster class of 2014.
How did this happen? I’m demanding a recount – I’m sure I’m in the top 10 – but to WIN – I never win anything. ;))
teafairy – not quite.. you were voted most likely to place an order because the moon came up in the sky at night. ;)
I think I might just be having some kind of bad luck with all my online tea orders arriving in a timely manner the past month or so. My Vente Privee Fauchon from Feb 3 still hasn’t even been packed, and just about every other order I’ve made recently, I don’t get a shipping confirmation for a week and then when I do it says it’ll be another week until it comes. I got spoiled I think—a lot of my earliest forays into online tea shops via Steepster (Butiki, Verdant, NMTC, ATR) pack and send stuff out practically immediately, on week days usually, and use 2 day priority so it wasn’t unusual to order tea Monday and have it within 3 days, and always under a week. Every single order I’ve placed this month—and they’re all in the US and I’m in the US—has taken or looks like it will definitely take at least 2 weeks, often more like 2 1/2 or 3 weeks, to get to me, save one, and that one still took longer than I was expecting too. Oh well. Anyway, my point was maybe this is some weird busy busy season for tea sellers (wouldn’t surprise me—lots of festivals around now, plus spring harvests are underfoot and also tea sourcing trips and inventory count to make room for new teas in general).
I’m thinking the same ifjuly. I actually just wrote a tasting note on Strawberry Cream Cacao detailing my recent order with HI. In the end, I’ll happily order from them again honestly. I try not to have too high of expectations, because not every single company can have things done within hours to days haha! I do hope your Vente Privee Fauchon order comes soon. :)
Thanks Courtney! And I agree about ordering from HI again; I feel the same way.
Also, I misspoke (typed). Checked just now and there was one exception this month to the slow packing time thing—I got a shipping confirmation from The Devotea pretty much immediately, and the tea was at my door super fast. Sorry, Devotea! Didn’t mean to lump you in with the others, hee.
Omg, I got my latest Verdant Tea order! Thank goodness I checked the tracking or it would have been sitting in the mail box overnight getting frozen because my mail box is at the end of our very long street and I don’t go there every day… lol Just yesterday I checked and it was at the customs in Canada and today it’s delivered? Holy cow, I never saw that coming.
My first sheng brick… It’s beautiful and smells amazing!
OK I’m pissed at my mailman. Not only is he not leaving my packages, but he’s not leaving cards either. I went to the Post Office tonight because my Mandala tracking said that it was available for pick up – card left. Dude behind the counter thought I had been on holidays because I “always pick up your packages right away” Packages – plural? Yeah I have three for you one has been here since Thursday. !! I picked up THREE packages tonight and received ZERO cards for them. Didn’t know the other two were there. Ugggg.
Anyway – cupboard explosion at my house too.
I got my Capital Tea Ltd. order. I love the red tissue and black packages – looks awesome in the box!!!!
I got my Mandala order. That is always exciting – tons of samples and smiley faces drawn on the box. I too got another Wild Monk Sheng cake, and a BUNCH of other stuff. I love Mandala!!
I also received a wonderful swap package from Ysaurella. Thank you so much. Love getting French teas. Fantastic!!!
keychange was awesome and sent me huge amounts of Harney Rose Scented and Fruits d’Alsace! So excited, as Fruits is one of my favorite teas to coldsteep in spring and it turned 70F here overnight. And I’ve been curious about mixing Rose Scented on my own with black bases and breakfast blends. Yay!
Oh I wish it was that warm here. Or even half that warm. Sigh. I can’t wait to live somewhere were it’s summer all the time. Also, yay for tea!
oh, we should trade! haha. i actually hate memphis summers…so endless and sweltering and HUMID. but spring, this 70F thing, i can handle.
Haha! I love the humidity. Right now I live where there’s no water and it is not for me. I miss the ocean and humidity dearly!
yeah, you just get mississippi river swampiness! i miss living a 10 minute walk to lake ontario so much. i’m way into big bodies of water you can swim in and feel tiny.
i miss being able to keep things like fruit and spices and beer out, not in the fridge/freezer. the past few months of relative low humidity where food keeps and i don’t feel sticky 24/7 have been great.
i grew up in rochester, in upstate new york. i miss the lake so much! i hate feeling landlocked.
I got my American Tea Room order – I was tempted by their Valentine’s Day offer of 15% off + free infuser (with orders over $30). Unfortunately my infuser was not included :(
I e-mailed them about it and they promptly responded that they were going to send it my way. So it’s okay.
My Eco-Cho order arrived today! I got the Taiwan Tea Tour five pack, and the three Taiwan black teas they suggested for me in the AMA!
Not only did my other half rescue the Great Canadian Tea Box from post office jail for me, he also rescued my River Tea Order. Now to see if i can still manage to officially end the month with 150 teas or less in my cupboard before i go on vacation heh.
I just rec’d a box from ifjuly and it had the sweetest note inside it too! I’ve got a huge grin on my face!
I can’t wait to try the Andrews & Dunham Yunnan Gold Tips sample – there’s still 76 left in stock, but I really, REALLY appreciate the chance to try this out before I commit to a purchase, especially since it’s $25 (instead of their regular $20), and the shipping to Canada starts at $10!
(mmmmm, it’s love at first sip)
ETA:whoops – Steepster ate half my note. I corrected it!
