Thank you so much everyone for helping me out with this concept. I’d reply to you all individually but it’d take me ages to type everything out!!! :P I guess I have felt a sort of light and floaty feeling on a good Oolong I have in my tea cupboard but I never attributed this to it!
There are 3 or 4 good threads about what this is and what tea has cha qi, high energy, or gets you tea drunk. Mainly young or extremely aged puerh, especially lao ban zhang
Its called Teagasm, people.
Its the only gasm even guys like me can have multiples of!
Now I DEFINITELY feel like I’m missing out!
Lol, yes. When I first started working in the tea shop I was kind of worried that I was going crazy for a few days until I googled it one day. Now it’s one of my favourite things ever. I find that matcha makes me feel it too.
I’m tea drunk right now. I just finished a cup of Bi Luo Chun and it must have pushed me over my caffeine limit because I feel a little light headed (in a good way) and I’m all over the place. It is an awesome feeling…only on steep one of three with this Bi Luo Chun….I wonder if my second steep will pre-long the effects or dispel them? Tis fun.
More like “Tea Stoned off my A$$!!”
I am new to the tea world and am only at the tip of it (seeing as my only experience has been from Teavana). I think I may have been “tea stoned off my a$$” last weekend and again last night. Seeing as I had NO IDEA tea could do this to you I totally freaked out and thought I was dying :( I have been drinking this specific white tea for about 2 weeks now and it has happened twice – from VERY little amounts, a cup at most (Is that normal? For it to hit sometimes and not others?) Last night I had half a cup and I felt my body getting weird. I felt dizzy, light headed, tingly, vision was almost fuzzy, my eyelids became heavy, little bit of nausea. Could I be that sensitive to the stuff?? I absolutely love the tea but I’m not so sure about the high… first experience threw me WAY off.
white and green tea especially on an empty stomach can cause dizziness and nausea in some people. It’s from caffeine. I make sure never to drink tea without something in my stomach because I also take medications for migraines. Tea drunk should feel good not bad.
I have a white tea and a puer that seem to turn on that L-theanine chemical delivery to my brain making me feel relaxed and a bit high.Look it up. This is actually good for you.
Sorry to necro an old thread but I think I am experiencing this now for the first time. Just finished an oolong gongfu and I feel all kinds of weird in a good way.
I am new to tea drinking, so I want some advice from the tea tribe. I recently have learned I am unable to consume alcohol. My system just wont take it. I am interested in other ways to enjoy sitting around drinking something with friends and experiencing a buzz. I was looking to tea, but I don’t necessarily want to be up all night from caffeine if I drink a lot of tea in the evening. Any suggestions on other types of tea that will give me a mild euphoric feeling?
I might try Puerh. Puerh is easy on the stomach, good for your body (I’m allergic to the DNA level to alcohol also)with medium caffeine and some types are grand buzz givers. Ask this group or mrmopar.
Bonnie About time you got back on here! :) ;0 :)
Haha, don’t count on it! I live on my daughters ranch with 8 grandkids now (not in their house though) so I’ll never spend 40plus hours a week writing about tea again. I drink it and go to the tea house. Hope you guys are well!!
Yeah Bonnie, so far so good with us. So you really got your hands full with the grand-kids. I’m about the same. The twins are about 5 minutes away and growing very fast. Good to see you on here!
Someone on reddit (i don’t use it much), but they said that teas with more pesticides in them can cause it… im not sure if i believe it though :P
That’s just stupid. What a laugh! The caffeine in the tea delivers l-theanine to the brain and can give more or less of a sense of well being. Some people are more sensitive to it and some teas seem more potent.
I disagree with this too. I have never had a tea drunk feeling from pesticide ridden tea, only discomfort in the mouth and stomach, or perhaps a headache. The difficulty with “tea drunk” is that it is not one specific feeling, so different people label different things as tea drunk.
Oh, reddit. I’ve never been tea-drunk and am pretty convinced that my body just can’t do it. I process a number of things differently than anticipated. I’m sure I’ve consumed pesticide riddled teas though and so far so good.
You can definitely get tea drunk from some tea. Most will never effect me that way. I have occasionally gotten tea drunk but not usually. As there is caffeine in all tea and I am often effected by caffeine without ever getting tea drunk I don’t think it is the caffeine. It could be the theanine or the cha qi, who knows for sure. I don’t know if the Chinese have ever done a study.
You’re right it isn’t the caffeine but caffeine is the delivery system to the brain. Higher caffeine tea seems to deliver the good sense of well being (or buzz)better. If anyone takes time you can research this topic but you have to dig into medical information not opinion.
