Tea & Books - What are you reading?

Hello everyone! It is that time again. I’m looking for tea pairing suggestions for my Tea and Book club.

This month we are reading The Martian. Yes, the one that was turned into a major motion picture. I haven’t seen the movie as of yet because I am the nerd who wants to read the book first.

So for those of you who have seen the movie or read the book, what kind of tea do you think would match well, based on the theme of the book. I have been thinking about different kinds of “red” tea. But don’t let that sway your decision making if you have something creative and outside the box. Thanks again!

There are a lot of themes that could be relevant to what tea you choose:

The protagonist survives because he’s clever and can fix broken equipment using ingenious, jerry-rigged solutions. Considering that ripe pu’erh is a relatively recent development (the process was originally developed to mimic the results of aging raw pu’erh for a long time), that might work.

Another important part of the plot is that the protagonist finds a way to grow potatoes, which become his main food source, so maybe a tea with a strong note reminiscent of potatoes would work.

Then, of course, there’s what you mentioned already of finding a tea that’s red, fitting in with Mars. Rooibos or red/black (oxidized) tea would also fit.

Currently reading Lamb by Christopher Moore. Not for the strongly religious unless they have a really good sense of humor. The story of Jesus from about age 6 by his best friend Biff. Hysterical!!!

I finally finished reading the entire Song of Ice and Fire (GOT) series for the 2nd time.
Now I’m finally reading the Wheel of Time. I just finished book 3

I’m reading Furiously Happy for my tea book club. I was hoping to get some fun ideas about pairing a tea with that book. Any suggestions?

Reading Swan Song by Robert McCammon and listening to Hidden Bodies by Caroline Kepnes. Both are really good so far :-)

im reading, the dead zone by stephen king. someone told me there was a television series a while ago and i might be interested in watching it when im done with the book. anyone know of a good platform to watch it on (i.e. netflix?)

I’m currently reading The Story of the Lost Child, which is the last book in the Neopolitan Quartet by Elena Ferrante. I’ve been seeing the first book, My Brilliant Friend, EVERYWHERE over the past six months and finally got my hands on it a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been racing through the series; it’s spellbinding.
