Brandied Apricot Upside Down Cake. I really have no business buying more tea. I really need to just stop visiting the Steepster forums so I don’t even find out about these things. And, you know, I never buy tea that hasn’t been rated by you folks here on Steepster. But omg, seriously? With a name like this, with a photo of such a scrumptious-looking dessert, with the extremely evil threat of being available for only a limited time, how could I possibly resist? Oh, right, I couldn’t.

Sigh I also had to pre-order Verdant’s Dragonwell, only a sample size though, along with an ounce of the Summer Tieguanyin and Laoshan Black I’ve been waiting patiently on, a sample of the new Zhu Rong Black and an ounce of the Stone Pressed Yiwu to tide me over and experiment with till I can buy more. Managed to keep it only a dollar over the min for free shipping. Need a job, and a new car and a new house, all of which necessitate the job and mean less tea. I’m asking for Verdant gift certificates for my birthday and Christmas though.
I also made another Verdant order. I had about $30 left on my prepaid, which expires near the end of this month. I was planning on using it towards a matcha purchase, but since I heard that the current Verdant blends would be discontinued due to seasonal changes, I had to get some before they were gone, heh. I’ll get around to ordering the matcha a bit later in the semester (maybe around midterms or something).
Anyway, the order:
1 oz of Chocolate Phoenix Chai, Chocolate Chamomile Curiosity, and Xinyang Silk Road Spice.
7 g samples of Shi Feng Dragonwell, Imperial Breakfast Summer Blend, and Aged Yunnan Silver Needle White.
Today from Red Blossom Tea:
Organic Dragon Pearl Jasmine 8 oz.
Xin Gong Yi (New Craft) 2oz
They were out of the organic jasmine for a while and I’m not as fond if the jasmine supreme they have, so now that it’s back I grabbed a bunch.
Since someone was very convincing about coconut chai…haha
from Whispering Pines Tea Company:
1 oz Sleeping Bear Blend
1 oz Organic Toasted Coconut Chai
1 oz Organic Toasted Coconut Chai with a mate base
1 oz Honey Graham Cracker
Man I’m sad I haven’t been able to try Whispering Pines yet – I’m out of the loop! Honey Graham Cracker sounds amaaazing

That total includes 2 goodies for my 12 Days of Christmas
haha I figured it would appear that way. I just wanted to keep my teas a secret for the 12 Dyas of Christmas.
White the boysenberry was on sale I grabbed a small robust flavoring in WHITE matcha to try! I LOVE the boysenberry matcha – its my favorite fruit flavor thus far! I think it will be amazing in white as well! Of course this is from Red Leaf Tea :)
I ordered the boysenberry too! I’m curious to see your notes on how it will be in white.
I was able to not succumb to the boysenberry sale this time. However, I am preparing to to order the Tiramisu, the Lime and the Peach Matcha. I have been quibbling with myself about which level of flavoring to get for the peach, since there have been reports of the chemical flavor… I don’t want that. And Amanda said she ordered the distinctive level which is my go-to default… should maybe I order the robust for the Peach? Or the delicate? I don’t want chemical taste but I do want peach!
Well, since Red Leaf Tea isn’t going to be processing their GCs until after the weekend (totally understandable though! I would be going nuts if I were him! We are very active Matcha drinkers/writers here on Steepster!) I limited my order to just the tiramisu this time around. :) YUM! Next time I will order the Lime and the Peach!
Aww that’s a bummer. I was hoping he would get to it while the sale was going on but I understand. Guess caramel black matcha will have to wait…
Yeah, it’s TOTALLY understandable. I mean, as many people on here that are doing the free matcha program… it boggles my mind. It’s OK though, I wanted to take advantage of the Tiramisu sale while it’s still going on so that’s why I grabbed that. I didn’t want to miss out on the sale because this was a flavor I wanted to try.
I am on the hunt for the perfect blueberry tea. I tried 52 teas’ Strawberry Zbaglione and really liked it, so I’m giving Blueberry Zbaglione a try. Somewhere out there is my perfect non-hibiscus blueberry cuppa!
That one is good – also try Blueberry Jam (if you haven’t) from David’s Tea. I’m not a huge David’s tea fanatic but its pretty yum!
Any reason you are not a huge David’s Tea fan? I know you are a fan of flavored teas in general.
I find their flavors to lack consistency and too hit and miss. Plus I hate the oily surface you will find on the top of most of their teas, perhaps due to the use or over use even of stevia … Im not sure what it is but there is this oily scum like stuff on the top of a lot of their teas. Now the ones I love I really LOVE but because its so hit and miss I prefer to order from companies that hit with me more than miss. :)
Not a hater, just not a lover.
I agree with Azzrian… They aren’t bad, just not my favorite…
My absolute all time favorite tea is 52teas Blueberry Creamcheese Danish. Hopefully Frank will reblend it soon. It is so good that I ordered an entire pound!!!!
Bluberry Jam is on my list. I also want to try Adagio’s Blueberry. With most teas I am very laid back, but I have yet to find a blueberry tea that I love.
I’ve never ordered from David’s, but I’ve been curious about them for a while. I buy most of my teas from local shops, so I’m really just starting to explore all the online sites out there. There are so many that I feel a bit overwhelmed. That’s one reason I like Steepster. I know I’ll order from David’s as well as Verdant, Teavivre, and Red Leaf in the near future. :)
@Azzrian: the oily stuff is often a case of using (or misusing) the flavored oil that is used to flavor tea, or it could be a result of the quality of the flavoring oil. It isn’t always the cause of oily residue, but, it is often the cause.
That makes perfect sense LiberTEAS, and I would say it has a lot to do with the quality as well as over using it.
I second (or third?) Blueberry Jam from Davids. I’ve never had as delicious a Blueberry tea as it!
@tattooed_tea – Thanks for telling me about Teavivre. I want to order several teas from there, but I didn’t even realize they have a blueberry tea.
Oy… my poor pocket book. ;)
I really enjoyed Davids Organic White Tiger, it might not be blueberry enough for you though…it also has a bit of pomegranate mixed in too. A bit lighter but I thought it was delic. :)
@MissLena12 – Thank you! I am so excited about all of these teas. While I do want a straight blueberry tea, I love pomegranate, too. And as long as I’m placing a DT order…. :)
Seconding White Tiger. It IS light, but oh so good. Blueberry jam is pretty nice as well. I’m actually quite fond of Davids Tea, though I prefer many of their older flavours to the newer ones. I don’t have Azzrian’s issue with oily residue in their teas, other than the couple with chocolate or yogurt. I have had most of their collection at one point or another.
A small Butiki Teas order:
Grapefruit Dragon 1 oz
Watermelon Xylophone 1/2 oz
Total $13.75 with shipping! Yeah yeah I am on a tea buying hiatus, but come on, Butiki + Grapefruit = insta-buy. I actually am already thinking of cold brewing the two together, since I love both flavors so much.
Grabbed some of the tiramisu on sale at red leaf last night right before heading to bed. Free after using my gift certificate from reviews.
